Introduction of distance technologies into the process
of external students’ a foreign language teaching in non-linguistic groups.
At present economic
development in Kazakhstan society needs
the knowledge of a foreign language is an important criterion of an estimation of young specialist`s professionalism who needs to work with
information which available to the world community in the professional activity
process, and also to be able to communicate with foreign colleagues at
professional and social levels.
In modern
conditions the status of foreign languages in higher education system is
constantly changing in non- linguistic institutions. The acquisition not only
special knowledge, but also successful mastering by a foreign language is very
important, thus the purposes and the content of foreign languages teaching are
oriented on a specialty profile. The practical necessity of specialists knowing
a foreign language and are prepared for assimilation of advanced technologies,
allowed to create a new system of foreign languages education.
Priority
functions are such connected with formation of a professional orientation,
aspiration to receive knowledge necessary for acquaintance of foreign languages
achievements in professional area that does graduates of higher education
institution more competitive. Making a start from the point of view that the
foreign language is a key to a future professional activity, higher school teachers
form not only language and speech
skills, but also expand information in the professional sphere at the expense
of use of professionally directed texts, mastering by professional terms,
professional education.
At the same time
the operating system of higher external education isn't capable to carry out
high-quality training of specialists on discipline "Foreign language"
because of the lack of the special educational and methodical literature,
special techniques of carrying out classroom occupations; absence of the
correct independent work organization, both during the lessons, and during the
intersession period, systems of the current control.
Relevance of this
problem is caused also by generalizing researches lack on effective system creation
in foreign language teaching within external course, including basic computer
technologies; domination in students` teaching with traditional techniques that causes low motivation in the process
of foreign languages teaching.
Despite high
requirements to practical foreign language skills of future specialists, the number of obligatory hours for a foreign language
studying in non-linguistic institutions,
remains so small. It is naturally that foreign language teachers should revise
curricula and focus educational process on increase students` independent work.
One of the most
available means in optimization of students` independent work is integration of Internet resources into
educational process in non-linguistic higher education institution. Due to the
general availability of the Internet and simplicity of its use, distance education
of foreign languages is more necessary.
Prompt
development of information and communication technologies promotes public
awareness of distance education in the e-learning format which educational
functions can be shown in the following forms: use of multimedia electronic
carriers and the Powerpoint programs in audience and library, surfing of
numerous educational and media resources of network, Internet communication,
creation of own resources, and also development resources of remote education.
From our point of
view, distance education is not only new form of education, but also a new form
of teaching. Unlike external course, distance education provides next opportunities:
- of operational transfer on any distances for information of any volume, any kind (visual
and sound, static and dynamic, text and graphic);
- of its storages in memory of the computer
during the necessary time, its editing, processing, listing etc.;
- of interactivities by means of multimedia
information specially created for these purposes and expeditious communication
with a teacher;
- of access to
various sources of information;
- of works with
this information [4].
The electronic or
programmed textbook is a mean of distance education. The material of such
textbook is made as principles of the programmed management by process of
knowledge assimilation. On the one hand, the electronic textbook allows to satisfy
leading didactic principles: presentation, scientific character, consciousness,
activity, system and sequence, availability, assimilation quality and others,
and on the other hand, it conforms to modern requirements of personal approach
in a technique of foreign languages teaching.
Now there are
various special computer programs focused on foreign languages teaching at distance
education. Three main groups are distinguished:
1. The programs
devoted to studying of these or those sections of language system (the main
task of such programs - introduction and activization of language forms and
structures).
2. The programs
directed on training in speech activity.
3. The
supervising programs providing control speech and language skills.
Besides it next
distance technologies are widely use in foreign languages teaching:
• case technology
which is close analog of technology of external education (when a student
receives a special set of educational and methodical materials (case) for
independent training and periodically gets teacher`s consultations);
• net-technology which
provides consultations with computers.
On the basis of the above, it is possible to
claim that in the conditions of global crisis and modernization in higher education in Kazakhstan the Internet integration resources into
educational process is unique possibility of foreign languages teaching for external
students, having prospects of expansion in education system in non- linguistic institutions.
