APPLICATION OF MULTIMEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN STUDY OF
DISCIPLINE
“INFORMATION SECURITY PRODUCTS AND METHODS”
Zhoranova N.Zh.
Much attention is currently being paid to technical and professional
education, as it determines scientific and technological advance and requires
non-stop improvement under dynamic economic environment. Application of
information technologies activates the process of studying discipline by
students, simplifies and accelerates studying of new material, increases
quality of education and extends students’ knowledge.
Educational systems based on computer technologies are intended to
interest student and to raise their creativity as well as to assist teachers in
their activity.
This article provides multimedia study book on discipline “Information
security products and methods” based on Flash technologies. Application of
multimedia technologies facilitates increase in volume of perception,
improvement of attention, development of memory and mind, activation of
intellectual activity through involved imaginative human activity to studying
process. Attractive computer Flash-graphics is to be emphasized that enables to
create animated fillings and texts for better perception, as a result,
interface becomes more attractive and, thus, is memorized better in comparison
with other packages. Textbook in its classical meaning is a book where material
is provided for some definite field of knowledge at a modern stage of
scientific and cultural development. There is no current term for e-textbook,
but we must remember that such book is an element of educational environment.
Electronic textbook in this work is understood as educational information
resource, creation, distribution and use of which is possible with the use of
up-to-date information technologies. Like in creation of any complicated
information technologies special technology is to be provided in development of
electronic textbook. Technology of creation is labor-intensive and includes the
following stages:
- determination of aims and objectives of development;
- development of e-textbook structure;
- development of content by chapters and themes;
- preparation of scripts for individual structures of e-textbooks;
- programming;
- approbation;
- correction of book content on approbation results;
- preparation of guidebook of methods and techniques for users.
The starting point in creation of e-textbooks are didactic aims and
objectives to achieve which information technologies are used. The order is to be determined in development of structure. New research of study material, type of navigation by
chapters and selection of main basis for future textbook shall be determined.
In development of individual themes material is to be ranged:
- by degree of perception complexity;
- by degree of presentation complexity.
The next stage in e-textbook development is its programming. Course
manager, programmers-designers are involved in the process, psychologist is
recommended to participate in the course. After e-textbook is created subject
teachers are recommended to participate in the work, as their opinions and
comments are important for developers, they are taken into consideration and
corrections are made on their basis. During approbation errors
missed by developers are identified.
Proposed
interactive textbook can be used at the lessons for explanation of material,
for solving tasks, for independent work of students, remote and advanced
education. Use of e-textbook for
independent work requires taking into account distinct logic of presentation of
theoretical material, precision of target-setting, detailed comments on
examples of tasks solution, process of solving academic and applied tasks, use
of various methods and means of student’s activation to cognitive activity in
educational process. Let’s view the first module “Traditional methods of
coding” of developed multimedia textbook on the discipline “Information
security products and means”. Module includes the following chapters:
Caesar’s method;
Caesar’s method with key word;
Table coding;
Coding tables with key words;
Magic square, Trisemus method;
Grondsfold method,
Wheatstone double square, Vigenère’s
method, Playfair’s method,
Polybius square. Multimedia technologies permit to add illustrative material
with unique video fragments and animation, enabling to demonstrate processes in
dynamics. Due to computers it became possible to transfer into e-format
majority of visual aids (tables, video films, slides) and store them long and
compactly. Use of multimedia textbook
permits to use broad information possibilities of modern computer technologies
and transfer of students’ motivation process to a new level. Experience in development of information
education environment achieved until now demonstrated on practice not only
practicability and effectiveness of unification of dispersed information
resources used in higher educational institution but also obligatory
preliminary theoretical planning and modeling of content and technologies for
higher education informatization processes.
