The project approach in the teaching of
foreign languages at present
The scientific and technological revolution,
which brought a powerful flow of information, submitted their claims to the
nature of foreign language and, thus, defined new principles of teaching
foreign languages’ methods. In recent years, teachers of foreign languages in high schools received considerable autonomy in
choosing the means of education. While recognizing the existence of different
methods in modern learning a foreign language, it should still be noted that is
not the last place is occupied by the methods and technologies based on the use
of innovative computer technologies. However, we, the teachers of educational
institutions of the country are looking for a reasonable compromise that would
solve this problem as productively as possible in modern conditions, using
diffe-rent
methods. We believe that the need to "expand" narrow space "of
communi-cation
in the classroom, carry out extensive reliance on practical activities"
[4]. To collect the information students need to get "beyond" the
audience to be active and independent. In other words, to increase the
efficiency of the educational process is necessary to activate the cognitive
motivation of the student. To address this issue, you can refer to the project
approach (method - John Dewey) (method of project Polat E.S.) [3]. The
essence of the design approach is that the student provides new evidence for
yourself and comprehending new concepts, and not getting them ready on the
teacher (the principle of constructivism). Consequently, the role of the teacher is changing:
the teacher goes from the instructor
in a more competent colleague, mentor [2.
p. 92].
The use of new forms of learning can provide
a high quality education, if you use them wisely. Thus, by applying the
principles of the design approach in the learning process is a complex effect
on the student, because such components are combined here as a conceptual,
illustrative, simulator, which controls part of the project. It also can attend
the game components [2] to facilitate the understanding and assimilation of the
material presented. The specially equipped (computer-based) design approach is quite audience’s
fits well into the process of teaching, without affecting the content of
education. This allows you to effectively reach the most anticipated learning
outcomes and reveal the potential of each student. Given the specificity of the
subject "foreign language", this technology can provide the necessary
conditions to enhance the cognitive and speech activity for each student, thus
giving him the opportunity to understand, to comprehend the new language
material to get sufficient practice to develop the necessary skills. Here, as
in any other discipline of great importance is the independent work of the
student, the teacher directed and formative language skills that require a
systematic, continuous, daily work.
This form of learning has great advantages over traditional methods of
teaching, including:
• develop creative competence as a measure of communicative language skills at
a certain level;
• allows you to train different types of speech and combine them in different
combinations;
• helps them realize the linguistic phenomena;
• helps to form linguistic abilities;
• creates a communicative situation;
• promotes the automatization of language and speech acts;
• contributes to the realization of an individual approach;
• intensify the independent work of the student;
• Allows enormously time-saving;
Material based on computer technology, and its distribution in the student's course of study reconstructs a new, more active mode
of operation, which helps to
maximize the manifestation of creative
possibilities and creates the preconditions for the successful assimilation of high volumes of information.
To
effectively organize the process of using ICT, the teacher must advance to
prepare a presentation to give a list of web-pages and other sources, which
should help in resolving the issue (problem), as well as select questions or to
state the problem, and the need to bring up these issues, which are sure to
must be solved and complex. The more precisely
and will be formulated task,
the better the result will be. It is
also important to discuss the
final presentation, the result of the work (design, form, placement on the site, etc.).
The success largely depends on how well organized
methodically lesson using ICT, and the current control can be performed by testing system. In
this situation, Internet serves no purpose, as a means of learning. Internet
does not replace traditional forms and methods of teaching, but it allows
faster and more effectively achieving the goals and objectives of the training
process.
