The
advantages of information and communication technology in teaching foreign
languages
Work with information in a foreign language,
it is very relevant, and the use of information technology opens vast
possibilities of the computer as a learning tool and can create an amazing
world of knowledge that is available to everyone. Computer technology has many
advantages over traditional methods of learning. They are regarded as
information and communication technology (ICT) training, integrating all forms
of audio-visual information (text, sound, graphics, animation, etc.). Thanks to
these achievements realized by an interactive dialogue with the system, and
there are various forms of self-employment for the collection and processing of
information.
As an example of the use
of ICT in class is the use of technology Web 2.0.
Web 2.0 - a platform of
social services and services that enable a wide range of users on the Internet
to not only receive information, but to be her and the creators and co-workers
[10. P. 3-10]. All the materials they work with students drawn from of the
Internet. Design exemplary web-projects involves the rational planning of time,
and most importantly, allows you to focus your attention not on the search for
information, and in its use. The method of working with the likes of social
services is based on the principle of constructivism, which is important not to
recreate the objective reality of the encyclopedic, and the formation of the
individual understanding of the problem. [8]. The essence of the design
approach is that the student provides new evidence for yourself and
comprehending new concepts, and not getting them ready on the teacher (the
principle of constructivism). Consequently, the role of the teacher is
changing: the teacher goes from the instructor in a more competent colleague,
mentor [2. S. 92].
The use of Web 2.0
technologies for communication methods:
• WebQuest
• Blogger
Wiki
«WebQuest» (Vebkvest
from the English. "Search the web") - is a new means of using
technology to promote critical thinking and cognitive development of students
involved in the learning process. This is a didactic model of the project,
aimed at self-searching work of students at the web-sites in order to solve the
problem
WebQuest-method has a
number of advantages when learning a foreign language:
• ensures the autonomy
and independence of the students;
• promotes independent
decision-making and provides an opportunity to carry out an individual
approach;
• develops critical
thinking, trains cognitive abilities;
• make meaningful and
useful systematic use of Internet resources in the session, as well as
multimedia and traditional learning tools;
• motivating learning a
new language material;
• allows the use of a
large number of relevant authentic information;
• has the opportunity to
introduce linguistic cross-cultural component;
• organizing work on a
problem in the form of focused attention, calculated at any time period (from
several minutes to several weeks);
Blogger allows each
student to take part in the debate, "which is not always possible with the
traditional organization of education due to lack of time in the classroom and
the limited amount of training courses." [5. S. 120-122.]
«Wiki» (Vicky) - a kind
of social service, which allows one person or group of people to create
content. That is to say, the public page. Created data can be supplemented,
modified, deleted, as creators, as well as through this site [10. P. 3-10].
Students using computer
technology, are able to make electronic recording materials in the current
classroom lessons. This can be accomplished by any CD or USB (storage device)
in order to further study the lesson material obtained.
Internet does not
replace traditional forms and methods of teaching, but it allows faster and
more effectively to achieve the goals and objectives of the training process.
