Oil and gas industry is the sector where innovation process has a tremendous impact not only on the final results of the activities of individual companies, but also on the state of the national economy as a whole. It is obvious that over the past decade oil and gas industry has demonstrated a number of striking achievements worldwide. For the majority of the largest oil and gas companies innovations are an essential part of the corporate culture and mission of the company, and companies get a significant benefit from their innovation.

We have found there  a clear relationship between the innovation activities of companies from various sectors of the economy and their success in increasing revenues. Oil and gas companies consistently and purposefully work hard to bring  production capabilities to a new level. Technological innovations make it possible to extract from include the use of "the pad" to drill multiple wells on one site, contribute to increase productivity. According to some estimates, in just the last six years, the average productivity of oil and gas wells in North America has increased by four times. This corresponds to the results of research in many fields, carried out over several decades. It is obvious that oil and gas companies today are building their work on many fronts. Today, any decisions regarding innovative development can have a very serious impact on results of operations in the long term. As an example, the production of biofuels from algae. Investigations in this direction are conducted for many years. Currently in Canada, developed a pilot project within the framework of the Innovation Alliance Canada's oil sands developers (COSIA). The project envisages that the refinery running on biofuel, algae will be grown using waste heat and by-products formed in the drilling process. subsoil such fuels, production of which even 10-20 years ago was impossible. Oil from oil sands and shale gas in the recent past was considered too difficult or expensive, but today the development of these resources is rapidly changing situation on the North American market. The increase in shale gas production - a well-known fact, but it is not the only example of changes in the industry. In recent years there has also been a steady increase in the oil recovery factor. However, the method of hydraulic fracturing - is not the only new method of drilling that affects the recovery of production volumes.

Almost seven out of ten heads of oil companies note the importance of structured innovation processes for the formation of a culture of innovation. Effective innovation processes must be repeated, iterative character. Such processes begin with the stage of collecting ideas, the subsequent determination of priority ideas of experimental verification and decision-making as to which ideas can make a profit, and end with the practical development and monetization of innovative solutions. If this process is organized properly, it provides a quick practical development of promising ideas and rapid screening of failed ideas. In the segment of exploration and production of oil and gas capital expenditures are often designed for the long term, and some of the ideas require a long-term study, before they begin to produce results. For this reason the definition of a circle of ideas which can be quickly classified as insolvent, is very challenging. In this regard, the entry into a partnership is an important element of this process for many companies. In order to implement breakthrough innovation companies consider a number of innovative modeling solutions, including the following: the model of open innovation (cooperation with external partners); method of creative search of innovative ideas (consider the need for innovation with ergonomic position of creative thinking, not shackled by stereotypes); Corporate venture capital and business development. About a third of respondents from oil and gas companies have noted that the model of open innovation - is an approach that has the greatest potential in terms of increasing revenues. In some cases, the company formed a consortium to solve complex problems. Canadian Oil Sands Innovation Alliance (COSIA) development is an excellent example of combining oil companies' efforts to address the issues associated with a reduction in the negative impact of operations on the environment. COSIA Organization was established in March 2012, and today has a membership of 14 companies. Companies participating in COSIA activities, identify and develop innovative approaches and innovative ideas in the area of improving the environment.

Innovation processes are a set of advanced new quality changes that continuously occur in time and space. Innovative processes initiated by certain sectors of science, and completed in production, contributing to its progressive change.

The use of innovative processes in drilling oil and gas wells in a market economy has a progressive effect on improving energy power drilling equipment, mechanization of basic and auxiliary processes, reduce production cycle construction of wells, increasing the speed of drilling.

At the present stage of well construction attaches great importance to the complex work that begins with the disclosure of the productive layer and ends with the introduction of wells in operation. The most difficult is disclosed by  collectors with fracture porosity where possible leakage of inner crust, which is not destroyed during exploration wells and considerably reduces its performance. It makes it possible to increase the production rate of 20-25%. More important in revealing layers provided gaseous agents, aerated liquids and pins, solutions to the oil-based drilling horizontal wells. These activities can increase the production rate.
