Multilingual education.

Teaching Informatic in English language

 

 

 

The labor market today dictates strict requirements primarily to the competence and professionalism of the staff. President Nursultan Nazarbayev has set to education complex and ambitious tasks and for this we should preserve the best traditions of Kazakhstan education and at the same time provides high-quality knowledge of relevant international standards. This is possible only due to increasing the level of language training students, instilling in them the linguistic consciousness.

Implemented project in the country "Trinity of languages" provides for the development of the Kazakh as the state language, Russian - for interstate communication, English is necessary for us to successfully integrate into the world educational space. Solutions to these issues have been identified on the July national meeting "multilingual education in the Republic of Kazakhstan: strategy of development." According to the Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Zhumagulov, "the main trends for the real three languages ​​already formed. Knowing these languages, our specialists will be even more competitive in the world and in our country. "Linguistic competence necessary for the study and understanding of best international practices in the field of specialty and related fields of science and technology. Exchange of experience, familiarity with the latest developments are particularly relevant in the fast-growing areas such as computer science, computer engineering and information technology.

Students of non-linguistic course graduates to study basic English course  after two years of study at the university. However, full-time students have the opportunity to continue learning the language as a special discipline in the third and fourth year. This training scheme is described in detail in the model program in foreign languages ​​for language high schools. The program offers to form a higher level language communicative competence  in the second and then the third phase of training.

This model of learning is especially relevant for future professionals in the field of information technology, since English is the "native" language of this science.

The aim of the course of computer science in the English language: the formation of students' motivation to learn a foreign language through the use of computer technologies; integration of knowledge in computer science and English. As part of the program students learn  computer vocabulary in their native language and English, which is the base language of the computer.

Even a cursory acquaintance with the computer assures us that English is, in fact, is a leading language in information technology. But along with the objective fact of dominance of English in the information space, we are faced with an interesting phenomenon taking English in this area in the form of computer slang. Slang (from the English. Slang) - it is "1) it professionally or socially isolated group as opposed to the literary language, and 2) colloquial variant (including painted expressive elements of the speech that did not coincide with the literary norm)." There are so many terms and concepts that are on the Russian language is not translated, or  translated, but too rough and unclear. As a trivial example - the word "file".

How to translate it (other than as a "file"), no one knows. Or let us say, the word "site". You can write the "Web site", but the next step will be the interpretation of the word "web". English language is a very economical, thus taking advantage of them when working with your computer, we learn to think quickly and economically.

Informatics  and English are closely related not only to the fact that all major software products used on a PC, written in English, and all the high-level programming languages ​​are used as official word of English, but also at the target level. And he and the other thing, in the end, to work towards the same goal: to adapt students  to the modern living conditions. But the main goal of adaptation is that children must be taught to process information, solve problems, communicate with people and understand the changes needed in the community, what the invaluable assistance they would have knowledge of the English language and computer.

In order to study computer science in English using different teaching methods. For example, the integrated lesson. Integrated classes are important in the learning process. The purpose of these lessons is to enhance the students' attention, to diversify the cognitive and learning activities to create a creative environment in the classroom. The value of integrated lessons and is to synthesize the knowledge of teachers, who are usually limited to the scope of its subject.

The objectives of informatics  lessons in the English language are:

• to show students the connection between  English language and informatic.

• to repeat the basic concepts and definitions of the English and informatics  course for beginners.

• Develop students’ educational interest.

Classes begins with the computer alphabet: knowledge of a computer and computer terms.Teachers should prepare glossary of special terms includes acronyms frequently used in professional communication.

English-language speech perception skills are improved by listening to relevant information. Listening is carried out using the text in the specialty.

In the second part of the lesson we are working with the text. The program is designed so that students prepare reports which they done  in the classroom computer, and protect them in English. As working  module was selected modern original texts on the subject of the module containing the special vocabulary. For example on the following topics, What is computer software?, Logical Components of Dataspaces, The Networking etc.

At the end of the lesson to consolidate the material, you can use the test tasks on the computer that control:

● The level of understanding the contain of text

● learning  the theoretical part of the module

 ● oral communication skills

This analysis of science lessons in English indicates that the multilingualism promotes the all-round development of students.

Thus, for the development of a competitive professional, outgoing positive person able to actively and effectively in the life of a multinational and multicultural environment, which has developed a sense of understanding and respect for other cultures, and the ability to live in peace and harmony need of multilingual education.
