USING
POETRY IN PUBLICATIONS
Key words: poetry,
publications, semantic information, idiophones.
Publicists are very interested in poetry
nowadays. Poetry and the ablity to present information including all the
details make the use of poetry crucial in modern publications. Poetry used in
publications catches attention, slows down reading ruining its usual rhythm.
The author, makes the reader think about the issue, going deeper by using
poetry with its bright meaning, that makes reader stop reading unexpectedly and
keep the picture in his mind. This technique helps journalists to get feedback
desired. Idiophones are necessary elements of poetical language. They catch
attention with their melody: rhythm, rhyme, repetition.
Special expressions are powerful tool of
amplification of the article’s meaning. It requires certain skills from the
author since the wrong use of one might kill the result.
Poetic word is a word with alive and
bright inside form, the base of the word’s shape.
According to Veselovsky “the language of
poetry continues psychological progress, that started in ancient years; it uses
the language of myth, their metaphors and symbols, however creates new ones” [1].
The main power of poetic word is in its
imagery. Such word expresses its inside meaning very strongly. According to
Potebry, “it shows how human sees his own thought”. It is a bright proof, the
center of the meaning, one of its main characteristics. If the meaning of the
word is something that it reflects, so the inside meaning of it is how each
subject reflects and being presented in reality.
What is the meaning of this special
quality of the word in the poetic speech. How and why poetic word has an
influence on the reader. Poetical speech does not carry any information in it
most of the times but it still has influence on the reader. It carries
esthetical data. The structure of the article that includes poetry has two
lines: meaning plus influence. For instance, examples of poetry put as headers
put the reader in certain mood right away. It esthetically brings the feeling
of excitement.
Thanks to those lines, the reader think
about the article in a creative way, brings emotions to the reading. Moreover,
each generation of journalists tries to understand poetry in its own unique way
seeing modern meaning in it. For instance, the newspaper “Express-k” used
Shekspier’s “To Be or Not to Be” as a
header, changing it to “To Go or Not To Go. That’s the question” [2].
Modern understanding of poetry is one of
the most important tasks for the journalist while using it. The process of
creative recreation of the poetry in publications is infinite. It is, as was
previously mentioned, paraphrased lines and changed by the author.
