How to learn English using new technologies

In address to People of Kazakhstan the Head of the State N.A. Nazarbayev said: “I have always said that knowledge of three languages is an obligatory condition of people’s one’s wellbeing. Therefore, I believe that by 2020 a share of our population speaking English should be no less than 20 percent.”

So the policy of government is directed to modernization of high education in our republic, its integration into the world educational space.

And the young people have many opportunities to learn foreign languages, especially English.

As a student, I am interested and willing to learn in order for me to be fully engaged and deeply comprehend the content.

It is generally accepted that everything new make young people get interested. With recent advances computer –assisted language learning has emerged as a tempting alternative to traditional modes of supplementing or replacing direct student-teacher interaction, such as laboratory or audio-based study. The integration of sound, voice interaction, video, and animation has made it possible to create interactive learning environments that promise to enhance the classroom model of language learning significantly.

A growing number of textbook publishers now offer some sort of educational software of, and educators can choose among a large variety different products. This technology is able to offer a huge diversity of activities aimed to develop my speaking, reading and writing, listening.

Interactive programs contain audio and video activities which are really easy to use and are made to study a particular grammar or vocabulary material, so I like dealing with the computer and work in special equipped classrooms.

Models for creation and using the computer tests are innovative programs designed to make learning easier and give regular opportunities to evaluate my progress.  And our teachers do not have to spend time making and checking test anymore, and students can quickly look through the result and mistakes made during the test in a few seconds.

Test Generator is also such software as, which is very comfortable for making test bases for all levels and on different themes. Nowadays I can use these programs as a self-study guide and to prepare to different international test like TOEFL or IELTS, which will help me to become a professional, having opportunity to work abroad.

The rapid technological advanced of the 1980s have raised both the expectations and the demands placed on the computer as a potential learning tool.

Through the computer I can use many Internet English language learning tools, communities and resources. For my improving English I often use learning programs of such sites as www.British council, www.englishclub.com and abc-english-grammar.com, www.embassy-usa.com.

Interactive English websites typically contain pages of visual aids that can be activated by the user with a mouse click to generate spoken or written vocabulary or to link to a quiz for self-testing. The term "interactive English" is also used by brick-and-mortar English schools to refer to a style of learning that involves discussion, role-play, and frequent interaction with the instructor.

While many online sites devoted to help users to learn English are unambiguously constructed as "schools" with interactive English aids like audio-visual and grammar tools, there are others that can be just as helpful to a student wishing to learn communications skills. These include online communities of English learners that encourage chatting, e-mails, and voice exchanges between students. These interactive English communities are usually moderated by qualified instructors, and though they can effectively supplement experience in a physical classroom, they may also stand alone as a student's only resource for interacting in English. Such communities have the advantage of exposing students to a wide spectrum of "www.odnoklassniki.ru" from many different countries, helping them to learn about different cultures other than their own while they learn English.

I’m a member of “Face book” community, where I have pen-friends from all over the world. And chatting in English with them makes my English better.

We also have new interactive equipments, which our teachers use for doing interesting different activities at the lessons. One of them is an interactive board. It’s a large interactive display  that connects to a computer and projector. A projector projects the computer desktop onto the board’s surface where users control the computer using a pen, finger, stylus, or other device.

Interactive boards are large presentation tools that allow our teachers to create dynamic lessons.

Uses for interactive boards include:

-         conduct video-lessons, they give opportunity to watch lessons of native English speakers

      on phonetics, grammar and vocabulary;

-         use project technology, we can make presentations on different topics and present them to our group mates, so they improve our creative skills;

-         use karaoke videos, which can be very useful for developing our understanding English speech, reading. As for me, I like singing, and studying language through the English songs  is very interesting .

-         use e-Dictionaries, which help to work with vocabulary by looking at the picture and definition, listening and practicing new lexis.

-         we can draw  different schemes, clusters, so they improve our communicative skills.

In fact, we are usually good at using the computer and like working on the Internet, so these activities can become an integral part of everyday learning process.

Using interactive equipments in language learning allow me and my group mates to work at our own pace and in our own time.
