OPPORTUNITIES OF
IT-TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS
XXI
century - the era of the information society. The need for new knowledge,
information literacy, ability to independently acquire knowledge has
contributed to a new kind of education - innovation, in which the information
technologies have to play a backbone and integral role.
Elementary
School – is the foundation on which the quality of further education of the
child depends, and this imposes a special responsibility on the elementary
school teacher. For a long time the primary school was a "school of skills"
in the educational system i.e. considered as the level of education, where the
student should master basic skills such as reading, writing, arithmetic for
further education. Today, the primary school is viewed from a different
perspective. Today it has to become a child's first experience in the
educational system - a place to apply own educational experience. At this stage
it is important to develop the activity, independence, preserve cognitive
activity and to create conditions for the harmonious joining of the child to
the educational world, maintain their health and emotional well being. These
qualities of students are developing with the introduction of new information
technologies in the educational process [1].
The
concept of "New Information Technologies" in elementary school should
not be understood as "basics of computer science" adapted for
elementary school but as the complex
transformation of "habitat" of a student.
The
eminent philosopher of the XX century Bertrand Russell said: "If you do
not think about your future, you don’t have it ...". Our future – is our
children. It turns out that the children in order to adopt the knowledge firmly
and avoid the peak fatigue from lessons in our intensive information age, have
to be fully ready for the perception of knowledge. Formation of the younger
generation is going on in the rapidly changing world. Along with the newly
evolving culture of new social relations, information culture is becoming an important
part of today's education of a human, which is based on modern innovation
processes. The new requirements of modern life are becoming more obvious, it is
the ability to use the educational information, find it, perceive and analyze.
One
great teacher K. Ushinskiy said: "Children's Nature clearly requires
clarity. Teach a child some five unknown to him words, and he will suffer over
them for a long time, but associate twenty such words with the pictures - and
the child will learn them on the fly ... ". Today, information
technologies actively burst into our lives, covering new areas.
Computer
in the process of teaching younger students should play a role of enriching and
transforming element of the developing subject environment. Because in this age
there is intense brain development of the child, and the foundation of his
future intellectual development is laid [2].
The
computer generates the skills of an efficient memorization of material.
Students
easily remember difficult material with help of charts and tables, that
concisely and clearly show it.
In
order to make students actively involved in the learning process, rather than
being just passive spectators, it is possible to use a method of projects in
the work.
Proper
use of the capabilities of modern information technology in primary schools
promotes:
-
enhance the cognitive activity, improve the qualitative performance of
schoolchildren;
-
the achievement of learning objectives with the help of modern electronic
educational materials designed for use in the classroom in an elementary
school;
- develop skills of self-education and
self-control among younger schoolchildren, increase the comfort level of
education;
-
Reducing the didactic difficulties of students;
-
increase in the activity and initiative of the junior schoolchildren in the
classroom, development of information thinking, the formation of information
and communication competence;
-
acquisition of computer skills of primary school students in compliance with
safety regulations.
The
role of the teacher in the classroom using ICT changes, a teacher is now not
only a source of knowledge, but also the manager of the learning process, the
main tasks of the teacher are: management of student cognitive activity.
Lessons
with the use of information technology are interesting not only for children,
but for teacher as well. They provide an opportunity for self-development of
both teacher and student.
In
elementary school, there is a change of the leading activity of a child from
game to study. Education in the game – isn’t this something all the children
dream about? At these classes the fear of doing mistakes disappears, the anxiety
and unwarranted worries reduce, thereby creating the necessary conditions for
intellectual and successful flow of the educational process.
With
the help of multimedia lessons the general education task of forming ICT skills
of junior students is solved [3]. Effective use of information implies not only
knowledge, but also an understanding of what you know. That is what should be
learned.
The
interactive whiteboard helps to intensify the learning process, make the
frontal forms of education more effective. Interactive whiteboard - a valuable
tool for teaching the class.
It
is - a visual resource that can help teachers make lessons lively and
attractive to students.
Interactive
whiteboard allows to present information to the students using a wide range of
visualization tools (maps, tables, charts, diagrams, photographs, etc.), to
model abstract ideas and concepts, without touching the computer, change the
model, to move an object to a different position on the screen, or to establish
new communication between objects.
There
is no need to wait for student to write the task on the board, thus wasting a
few minutes of the lesson - the teacher can display previously prepared
materials, and the lesson will be used only for problem solving. During the
lesson, students are becoming focused on work, more active and interested,
information becomes more accessible and understandable for them, which improves
the atmosphere of understanding in the classroom.
The
work with the interactive whiteboard in primary school is a continuation of the
game, accompanied by audio-visuals. The use of different magnetic pens, laser
pointers, "magic" wands develops not only logic, creativity, motor
skills and coordination of the child, but also allows him to go back and see
what went wrong, analyze own work. A teacher can make a simple and quick
amendments to existing methodological material directly in class during the
explanation of the material, adapting it for a specific audience and for a
specific tasks assigned in class.
Thanks
to modern technology and the optimal methods of teaching, a teacher can give
each child the opportunity to "travel" around the world of knowledge,
just as he travels through game scenes of any entertaining game, giving new
powerful impetus to the development of independent cognitive activity.
