Russian-language poetry of Kazakhstan
Russian-language poetry in
Kazakhstan originates from the Soviet period. It has enormous potential for
research as a special artistic phenomenon, in which a variety of stylistic, methodological, spiritual,
ideological and thematic searches are interwoven. The theme of Russian poetry in Kazakhstan is relevant
and interesting for both domestic and foreign literary critics. At the same
time, this theme remains one of the least studied in the Kazakh literary study.
Russian-language poets of Kazakhstan can be divided into two groups. The
first group includes the recognized and popular poets in a literary community. They
are Olzhas Suleimenov, Yuriy Grunin, Bakhytzhan Kanapyanov, Auezhan Kodar,
Bakhyt Kenzheev, Larisa Martynova, Anuar Duysenbinov, Alexander Zhovtis, Sergey
Kisilev, Vyacheslav Kikhtenko, Lidiya Stepanova, Inna Filimonova, etc.
The second group includes poets, known only to a specific
group of readers and critics. They are Tigran Tuniantc, Marat Ysenov,
Aygerim Tazhi, Anna Rogozhnikova, Elena Terskikh and others.
All the above-mentioned poets have great creative potential, unique artistic and stylistic features. All the above-mentioned names take
appropriate place in an intensive development of modern Kazakh literature.
Olzhas Suleimenov, Bakhytzhan Kanapyanov, Auezhan Kodar,
Aygerim Tazhi excel at their vivid and unique works among Russian-language poets of
Kazakhstan.
Grigoryeva Olga Nikolayevna has made a great contribution to the
development of children's poetry. She is the author of books for children: Danilkin Ship (1985), Walk to the Irtysh (1989), The
Adventures of Buzik (1991), Sunny Ball (1998), Sunny
Ball (2000), Pavlodar Alphabet "(2005)," Polite Child"
(2006)," Omsk Alphabet" (2007).
Bakhytzhan Kanapyanov
is a poet and prose writer. He is the author of books published in Kazakhstan,
Russia, Ukraine, the USA, Great Britain, Canada and Malaysia in more than 20
languages. In the early 90's, B. Kanapyanov published such collections of poems
as "Time of Silence" (1995), "Mountain Edge" (1995),
"Above the quality of life" (1999), "Tikshyrau"
(2001), "Holidays of nomad camp" (2003 ), "Clouds Float"
(2003) – in the framework of the programme "Year of
Kazakhstan in Russia", and "The Swarthy Moon" (2006).
The poet's creative work was appreciated by the famous
literary critic T.L. Frolovskaya: "If you look
over according to time (the debut collection "The Night Coolness" -
1977), we will see that for more than 25 years there are poems of Bakhytzhan Kanapyanov in modern poetry. Each book has its
own characteristics. For example, "Mountain edge" (1995): poetic lines
here are adjoin to the rock drawings of Sary-Arka and
Mangyshlak; they are included in the book of poems on
the rights of "parallel text". Masterpieces of unknown masters of the
distant, even very distant past, seemed to urge and encourage our contemporary to graceful stylization, to soggy
or, on the contrary, fine attempts of artfully lyrical
commentary. B. Kanapyanov did not fall for seductive temptation, but preserved
the intonation proper for him in his poems, not allowing a natural admiration
to move into an emotional afterburner before the ancient art… So everything is his
in poems, but primitive and beautiful petroglyphs are simply one of the main
sources of the author's spiritual world[1]".
Bakhytzhan Kanapyanov
has worked in the genre of poetic translation for many years. He has translated
into Russian the works of Abai Kunanbaev,
Dzhambul Zhabaev, Kenen Azerbaev, Nazym Hikmet, Shakarim Kudaiberdiyev, Magzhan Zhumabayev, Makhambet Otemisov, Nurpeis Baiganin, Ahmet Baitursynov, Kashagan, Sabit Mukanov, Saken Seifullin, Izim Iskanderov, Omor Sultanov. He is also the
author of the outstanding monument of the Kazakh folklore – the poems of Kyz-Zhibek.
In addition, in 1981 B. Kanapyanov enrolled in the Higher
Literary Courses of the Litinstitute named after M.
Gorky to Alexander Mezhirov, where he studied
together with Alexander Tkachenko, Sergei Mnatsakanyan and other famous poets and writers. High
culture of the poet and a good knowledge of history and perfect knowledge of
native and Russian languages, great interest in Russian culture in many ways
determined the originality of poet’s poetry. He's written:
Пришли неизвестно откуда,
Уйдем неизвестно куда.
Последняя выбита ссуда На смутные эти года.
Быть может, к последнему морю Выводит дорога судьбы,
Где к звездному тянется рою Блаженная пыль ворожбы[2].
(We have come and go no one
knows where. The last advance is knocked out in the troubled years. Perhaps, the road
of fate takes out to the last sea, where the blessed dust of divination
stretches to the starry swarm).
Auezkhan Kodar is one of the brightest and most talented
representatives of Russian-language Kazakh poetry. He is versatile, has worked
in different genres of fiction literature. The talent of the poet, philosopher,
essayist, prose writer, publicist is presented in one person. He is the author
of the following books in Russian: "The Winged Pattern" (1991), the
hermeneutic collection "Abai (Ibrahim) Kunanbaev (1996), the poetry collection "Circles of
Oblivion "(1998), monograph "Essays on the History of the Kazakh
Literature "(1999)," Steppe knowledge: essays on culturology
"(2002), books of poems with parallel English text "Flowers of Ruins"
(2004).
The Russian poetic tradition and the poetry of the East,
and antiquity were reflected in the works of Kodar.
Sense of national texture, national spirit and identity merged in his poetry. He is an
artist who could plastically recreate the Kazakh cosmos. Here is one of his
poems:
Я смеюсь надо всем и над многим в бессилии плачу.
И пусть это зовут западнею, несчастьем, судьбой,
Я не равен себе, это значит – живу наудачу,
До какой-нибудь встречи, - и может быть, даже, - с собой[3].
(I laugh at all and
cry over a lot in powerlessness. And let this be
called misfortune and destiny. I'm not equal to myself, it means I live at
random,
till any meeting – and maybe even – with myself.)
Modern Kazakh poet Aigerim Tazhi, who is the author of the book of poems "BOG-O-SLOV"
(THEOLOGIST) (2004), is distinguished for her verse libre-artistic
style. She is an honorable award winner of the International competitions of fiction literature after A.N. Tolstoy
(Moscow) and the poetic competition Castellodi Duino, held under the patronage of the Italian prince Carlo
Alessandro, the owner of the award of the International Festival of Creative
Youth "Shabyt" (Astana) and the prize of
the International Literary Competition "Magic of Solid Forms and Freedom".
The artistic expressiveness of her poetry is reflected in the following lines:
Кто-то умер.
Да здравствуют все.
У красавицы месяц в косе,
Солнышко в рукаве и кощеева жизнь.
В башне сиднем сидит, оттачивает харизму.
Ждёт прекрасного юношу, держит в окне белый флаг.
Но внизу лишь дурак, да и то не глядит, дурак.
В пять утра во дворе с серым волком на поводке
Курит, плюёт под ноги, уходит, крикнув "к ноге![4]”
(Someone died. Long
live everyone! A beautiful girl sits in the Sidney tower, improves her
charisma; waits for a nice young man and holds a white flag in the window. But
there is only a fool downstairs, with a gray wolf on a leash at five in the
morning in the yard; he smokes, spits under his feet, leaves and shouts).
The name and creative work of Olzhas
Suleimenov needs no introduction. He is widely known
among Russian-language readers. The poetry of Olzhas Suleimenov has been studied in considerable detail by both
domestic and foreign researchers.
It seems that his poetry shows the beauty through truth.
Together with his poetry you seem to travel through the endless steppes of our
country. The poet has more than twenty collections of poems. Each collection
shows the result of his historical, scientific, artistic and spiritual
research, his feature in his free, deep thought. We can see this style from the structure of his poetry. The poet
describes the past, present and future life of the people. Thanks to his works,
the roots of the Kazakh people, the depth of tradition, the fidelity of the
spirit have become known throughout the world. His poetry encourages man, gives
him energy and strength.
In order to understand and appreciate the poet you should
be familiar with all of his work. Because
each of his new poem seems to complement each other and refer to the previous
one. The theme of O. Suleimenov "artist and
time" is the eternal direction, which attracts much attention. For
example, my favorite works of the poet, such as "Argamak",
"Ant", "Makhambet",
"Cactus", "Night comparison", etc. are historical memory
and thoughts about life[5].
