DISTANCE HIGHER EDUCATION MODEL AND
PRINCIPLES
Distance education is developing rapidly and is used
in many Swedish universities. In most countries the term to describe a learning
management system (English Learning Management System LMS) differ. Learning
Management System is a computer program that combines the functions of
teaching, learning, assessment and management of educational courses[1]. Often
countries develop their own systems of management training. Some universities
in the late 1990s and early this century developed their own LMS. Swedish
learning management system called Ping Pong and used in major universities in
Sweden [2].
Learning Management System (LMS) is the driving force
of innovation in engineering education. Leading universities, administrators,
teachers, researchers and students interested in learning social dividends from
investments in modern computer programs to improve teaching and learning.
Different countries tend to use different terms to describe the LMS, which is
defined as a computer program that combines the functions of teaching,
learning, assessment and management of educational courses. In Sweden training
platform in a virtual environment education is not uncommon [3]. Sweden There are
university distance learning model for
the training purpose in Sweden.
1.Model learning at the university with a presence in
it of a classical education type. Having trained faculty, traditional
universities have a significant potential for intelligent design and creation
of pedagogically useful courses based on modern information and communication
technologies with the use of multimedia and hypermedia technology. Studies
carried out mainly using case-based technologies (printed books, electronic
materials, etc.) using communication tools.
2. Model of Distance Learning based on the
collaboration of several institutions. Such co-operation in the design,
creation and use of distance education increases their teaching quality,
reduces their cost. Collaboration can be national and international.
3. Model of e-learning in universities that are
specially created for this purpose. At the core of active learning is
self-study oriented students with manuals, literature, recordings on audio and
video cassettes, computerized courses. Along with these learning tools in the
pedagogical process applied computer teleconference. Introduction
teleconferencing requires some changes in the curriculum and the organization
of the educational process.
4. Consortium. This model represents the union of the
two universities. In applying this model, they share training materials or
dividing some functions, such as a university has been developing training
materials for distance learning, the other - provides a virtual learning group
of teachers or conducting official accreditation program for remote formation.
This can be a partner universities in general and their individual centers,
departments, or even a commercial or public undertakings operating on the
market of educational services. Consortia are effective only if strict
centralized management and compliance with copyright and proprietary rights
created resources. An example of such a model is an open educational agency
Sweden (Open Learning Agency, Sweden).
5. Franchise. In the model of learning organized on a
franchising partner universities send each other their distance learning
courses. In this case, any university that has proved itself in the market of
educational services, may transfer the right to conduct courses designed it,
other higher education institutions - partners who are just starting out in the
field of distance education and no experience of self-development training
resources for learning. An interesting detail of this model: students to study
at your university, receiving educational services in the same volume and the
same quality as the top high school students consortium, the same thing happens
with diplomas upon completion of training. Attributes of leading universities
and throughout maintained. Business School Open University (Open University
Business School, UK) and its interaction with universities in Sweden.
Validation very common model of learning in which the educational institution
enter into an agreement that e-learning services to provide all partners
equally. This is one of them involved in the validation of diplomas, accredited
courses and distance education programs, is responsible for issuing officially
recognized diplomas and certificates confer degrees, etc.
6. Projects. The model is designed for distance
learning of arbitrary large-scale project within the public educational or
research programs. In this model, the leading role of scientific and methodical
center, where the main developers of qualified staff teaching materials,
teachers and leading distance learning courses. Distance learning courses are
being developed in the scientific and methodical center are broadcast to a
large audience of the country (region).
