Social factors that determines committing armed crimes
Successful prevention of armed violent crime encroaching on such
important values such as human life and health requires the study
of its causes. Any crime, including armed, caused, as a rule, not a cause, but
a complex of external and internal circumstances. Highlighting the causes and
conditions that determine armed violent crime, it should be noted that we are
not talking about a separate special complex of factors. Most of the causes and
conditions of armed crime is a part of the determinants of crime in general.
From the variety of causes and conditions that determine the unlawful behavior
of armed criminals, try to identify factors of social, economic, political,
moral, organizational and managerial issues that have a significant impact on
armed crime. Armed crimes have certain specificity due to the use of weapons or
objects that are used instead of weapons, but its legal nature is primarily
violent crimes. As a result, the basis of the complex determinants of armed
crimes are causes and conditions of violent crimes.
Particular importance for the determination of different forms of
violence has unsatisfactory social needs. Causes and conditions of crime are
social in origin, they are always included in the system of social
contradictions of society. Violence as an integral part of society's existence
reflects the relative stability and equilibrium in its stratification system.
In a society of transitional period the violation of the relative balance and a
sharp deterioration of the social status of various groups lead to increased
violence. There is a "chain reaction": the aggravation of economic
and political crisis causes social tensions, the devaluation of traditional
spiritual values, devaluation of human life, the growth of cruelty and
violence. Causes of crime must first be sought in economic relations, their
contradictions, the imbalance of the economic mechanism, the defects and
shortcomings of economic planning, and in the system of distributive relations.
Special role in the determination of violence plays a social injustice.
It is accompanied by violent crime motivation and motivation of
self-justification. Social injustice, that is manifested to people by years,
social, national and professional groups, consistently shaped the general
dissatisfaction with others, life, power, easily turning into a conflict
situation in the specific motives of its violent resolution.
Powerful political
criminogenic factor contributing to armed crimes is ethnic conflicts and the
related terrorist offenses. Pretty much violent crime - the result of
interpersonal conflicts: in families, between family and friends, finally, on
the basis of randomly occurring specific situation when faced together the
interests of people who did not find any other way to resolve the conflict
except through crime. Even recreational sphere increasingly gets criminal
forms. The existing recreational facilities are inaccessible or do not meet the
requirements, that is why the collective binge after work - with all the
attendant consequences of such pastime becomes more widespread.
All these negative socio-economic, political and socio-demographic
phenomena should not invariably lead to the path of human crimes: criminal
behavior in a large degree depends not on the conditions of human life, but how
these conditions are perceived and evaluated. And the effect of socio-psychological
factors, the moral order should be taken into account. None of the spheres of
human life and society can be free of moral values and moral attitudes.
Spiritual crisis is always reflected adequately on the state of crime:
blurs the line between criminal and non-criminal, the law ceases to be law,
there is only the right of the strong. Comes with pain and regret that a large
part of our society is currently exposed to those vices that were previously
characterized by a marginal environment. "There is a process of
habituation of the population, especially young people, to the crime. Two
decades ago, a series of an organized bloody terrorism, mass hostage-taking,
the Slave Trade, ongoing public assassinations ... would deeply shock us. Now
we see it almost every day and take for granted." [1, с. 99]
Moral character of the young man in the first place depends on the
nature of information that it receives. Psychology of permissiveness and moral
freedom, seen as the "right of the individual to be himself," is
easily digested by a significant part of the people, especially the young.
Stereotypes of selfishness, cynicism and violence firmly live in ordinary
consciousness and domestic psychology. At the moment when in the social reality
dominated the conditions that can generate and maintain individualistic
consciousness and high moral defects that underlie violent criminal behavior,
many of individuals are their carriers.
Violent crime is more closely than other criminal acts connected with
alcoholism. People that are in alcohol or drug dependence, in order to meet
their requests easily go on committing crimes and constitute a significant
portion of the criminals.
Annually grows the number of patients registered in the medical facilities
and that are diagnosed with "mental and behavioral disorders due to use of
psychotropic substances."
So, among the causes of crimes committed with weapons, the factors of
socio-economic, political and moral character have the important significance,
ant they are the main determinants of violent crime.
Specific determinant of armed crime is the state's inability to provide
a safe and legitimate arms trafficking, but it is an issue that requires
separate consideration.
Thus completing the characterization of criminogenic factors
contributing to the commission of armed violent crimes, can be marked out the
following points:
- armed violent crime, being a part of crime in general, is determined
by determinants that inherent in other types of crime, but it has a certain set
of manifestations and varying degrees of criminogenic factors;
- among the causes of crimes committed with weapons, the major part make
factors of the socio-economic, political and moral character, in fact, they are
the main determinants of violent crime.
