Ethnocultural Associations of Kostanai Region as a Factor of Ethnic Diversity of the Region

 

Over the years of peaceful co-existence of numerous nations and nationalities in the Soviet Union Kazakh people have taken in with mother's milk respect and tolerance for other ethnic groups and religions. This has become a good support for the President of the Republic of Kazakhstanto introduce a unique model of interethnic harmony. Thus, the people of Kazakhstan took it for granted. A special role belongs to the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan established in 1995 headed by the President of Kazakhstan. Assembly is a special body that promotes the unification of different ethnic groups. A dozen of nations has gatheredin Kostanai region under the guidance of ethnoculturalassociations. Even in 1990, under the supervision of Kupeshev B.K.a"Kazakh tili" society was established. Its main task was to revive and spread the Kazakh language among the indigenous population. If we take into account the fact that the year before the events the population censuswas held in the country in 1989. According to the results of this census,there were 279,787 Kazakhs in Kostanai region. Nowadays 317,762 people live here[1]. Kostanai regional branch of Kazakhstan Koreans Associations. Currently 3,851 Koreans live in the region.The history of the Association of Koreans in the independent republic began in the early 90s, to be exact on May 23, 1990. At that time,a center of Soviet Koreans of Kostanai region was officially registeredbya beautiful name "Yon-Cody". However, in 1998 the center was reorganized into the regional branch of the Association of Koreans [1].

The Korean diaspora takes an active part in the activities of the Club of patrons, organizes and hosts a number of major charity events, including the Children's Day and assists low-income families. Special assistance is providedin legal advice to immigrants. The Armenian community of Kostanai region "Erebuni". Currently 1,652 Armenians live in the region. The head of the community is Abramyan Artur Surikovich, an entrepreneur who took over the former president of the community Toroyan MaiylParnikovich. The community conductswith responsibility the Memorial Day of the Armenian Genocide and Memorial Day of the victims of the earthquake. Theannual holiday of the Armenian community is Mother's Day with a celebration of women of different nationalities. Much attention is paid tocharity as well[2]. Kostanai regional community of Ukrainians. Ukrainian nationality is today one of the largest nations in the region, 80,884 Ukrainians live here[1]. Regional communities of Ukrainians was registeredon March 31, 1994. Currently the head of the regional community of Ukrainians is Tarassenko Anatoliy. Since its creation, the Ukrainian community puts the preservation and development of language, steady consolidation and development of contacts and relationships with all diasporasof the region and Kazakhstan. Thus, they follow this main principle in their work, too. Kostanai Chechen-Ingush cultural center "Vainakh". Today, the region has 1,939 people of Chechen nationality and about a thousand Ingush. Chechen-Ingush regional cultural center "Vainakh" was organized and registered on February 2, 1995. Timaev Elbrus Bogdanovich, CEO of one of the largest enterprises in the field of grain production and processing "Kazzernoprodukt" LLP has been the head ofthe Chechen-Ingush center since 2004[3]. One of the main areas of the activity of the Centre, along with the preservation of language, culture and traditions of the Chechen and Ingush peoples is the development and implementation of social and cultural programs, providing assistance, holding charity events to support members of the diaspora who are in need and providinglegal advice in registration and documentation. Azerbaijani diaspora of Kostanai region "Birlik". Today, the Azerbaijani diaspora consists of thousands of people. Azerbaijani community was registered on September 22, 1995. Currently the head of the community is İmanovGumbatBakhidurovich. Russian community of Kostanai region. Until recently, Russian nationality prevailed in the number of the other ethnic groups, even outnumbered the indigenous population. Thus, the creation of the community does not play any role. However, the Russian community in the area was registered on March 20, 1998. National cultural center of the Baltic peoples of Kostanai region"Yantar". National cultural center of the Baltic peopleswas createdon April 14, 2000. The initiator and the permanent chairman of the Center is Yakushevich Sergei Ilyich. However, the number of the Baltic peoples are represented in small numbers. According to recent reports of the year 1999, there were 879 Lithuanians, 250 Latvians and 93 Estonians[2]. Tajik community "Shark" (East) is one of the youngest in the region. It was registeredon April 3, 2003. The President of the community is ErgashvoyErmatovichKholmetov, an entrepreneur, member of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan and the regional Assembly of People. At present, the Tajik diaspora belongs to small-numbered people of our region. Greek national and cultural center of Kostanai region "NEO AKROPOLIS" (New Acropolis) was registered on September 16, 2003. The initiatorof the creation of the Greek NCC is Marmalidi Ivan Ivanovich with a small group. According to the 1999 census, there were 277 representatives of Greek nationality in the region. Currently Kostanai region is home to a small number of people with Greek roots. Turkmen national cultural center of Kostanai region. Turkmen diaspora is one of the smallest.Turkmen national cultural center was registered on 30 March, 2004. Kostanai Polish cultural and educational Society "Nadeya" (Hope) was formed and registered on May 27, 1997. The initiator of its creation is Gitsevich Romualda Stefanovna. According to the data2012, 1,565 Polish people live in Kostanai region[3].
