ПРИЕМЫ РАБОТЫ С НЕОЛОГИЗМАМИ НА ЗАНЯТИЯХ ПО АНГЛИЙСКОМУ ЯЗЫКУ

Изучение неологизмов относится к лингвистической задаче занятия по иностранному языку – обучение новой лексике. Изучающий язык должен понимать и употреблять в речи разнообразные лексические единицы, в том числе неологизмы. Кроме того, знание способов образования новых слов свидетельствует о достаточно высоком уровне языковой компетенции.

Читая американские газеты и журналы (The New York Times, Esquire, Forbes, Free Tours By Foot, Nautilus, Newsweek, Pittsburg Post-Gazette, PR Week, Public Radio East, Richmond Country Daily Journal, The Atlantic), мы отобрали ряд неологизмов и разработали комплекс упражнений с их использованием. Блоки упражнений мы разбили по темам в соответствии с содержанием УМК «Английский язык» для 10–11 классов (автор УМК Кузовлев В.П.). Цель заданий – усвоить новую лексику английского языка, или неологизмы, уметь анализировать их структуру и семантику, использовать в правильном контексте.

Упражнения для Блока 1 «How different the World is!»

1. Match these words with the meanings.

Snownado	a resort that blocks all incoming and outgoing Internet signals.
Apitotourism	a tornado that forms over a snow-covered area.
Vertical forest	tourism that is centered around bees and bee-related activities.
Global weirding	a tall building designed in a way that enables trees to be planted on all or most of its balconies.
Black-hole resort	the worldwide increase in the rate and extent of extreme or unpredictable weather conditions.
Subnivium	the layer above the soil and below the snowpack that serves as a winter refuge for many species

2. Group work. Create the country: describe it (climate, landmark, etc.), advertise it if you are a guide in the travel agency (use new words from ex.1).

3. Find the odd word: a) snownado, global weirding, black-hole resort;

b) apitourism, black-hole resort, global weirding;

c) apitourism, vertical forest, snownado.

Блок 2 «Western Democracies Are They Democratic?».

1. How are these words formed: cybercasing, whaling, narcissocracy, etc.?

2. Give reasons why people do this: cybercasing, whaling, vote-shame, bullet wallet.

3. Think about how to protect yourself from: cybercasing, whaling, vote-shame, bullet wallet.

Блок 3 «Is it easy to be young?».

1. Give advice to parents if they are or one of them is: a) sharent, b) tiger mother.

2. Divide the word into parts and give a translation for each one. Guess the meaning of the neologisms: complisult, sharent, flatform, dreamathon, hipsterfication.

3. Fill in the gaps using the following words: tiger mother, sharent, flatform, dreamathon, complisult, FOMO, hipsterfication.

a) Maria has not known how to react to the ____ from Fred.

b) Susy thinks her parents are too _____.

c) Pete is afraid to be late home as there is ______ waiting for him.

d) Christina spent the money to buy ______.

e) I was afraid to miss something important, familiar to say I had a syndrome _____.

f) I see the brightest dreams during ____.

g)______ is the desire to be a hipster.

Блок 4 «What helps you to enjoy yourself?».

1. Prepare cards with these words. Choose one card and try to explain the meaning of the word given on the card. Use a dictionary if necessary.

2. Remember the movies that belong to the genre: a) neuronovel, b) geriaction, c) clockpunk.

3. Create the plot for a movie according to the genre: a) neuronovel, b) geriaction, c) clockpunk.

Следующую группу неологизмов можно объединить темой «Illnesses and their treatment» (Блок 5). Для усвоения этих лексических единиц предлагаются упражнения:

1. Make up a dialogue: «In the hospital» using these words: fappy, misophonia, tentafier, track-a-holism, superager, stealth health.

Ex.: - Good day, doctor!

- Good day! What’s the matter with you?

- I can’t stand the sounds!

- I think you have a misophonia.

- Is it serious? What should I do?

- Amm, use the earphone!

2. Choose one diagnosis and make the therapy: misophonia, track-a-holic.

3. Write a composition. Choose one topic:

a) How to become a superager?

b) What consequences may fappy lead to?

c) What do you know about misophonia?

d) Are you a track-a-holic?

e) What do doctors use the term «tentafier» for?

f) Are you for or against the stealth health?

4. Fill in the table.

Блок 6«Inventions that shook the world».

1. Answer the questions using the words smartglasses, phablet, wrist-top, moto-doping, narcisstick.

What do we use for taking photos?

What is forbidden to use while cycling?

What do we use for controlling our life and health?

What kind of gadget combines phone and tablet?

What do we use for watching virtual subjects?

2. Work in pairs. Choose the roles: a shop assistant, a buyer. Make up a dialogue between people in the shop. Use these words: smartglasses, phablet, wrist-top, moto-doping, narcisstick.

4. Project. Choose one of these things: smartglasses, phablet, wrist-top, moto-doping, narcisstic. Present it to the class (give an instruction, price, advantages, disadvantages, etc.)

5. Try to show the object using gestures and facial expression: smartglasses, phablet, wrist-top, moto-doping, narcisstic.

Таким образом, мы полагаем, что представленный нами комплекс упражнений будет способствовать развитию словарного запаса за счет усвоения новых лексических единиц, неологизмов. При разработке данных заданий нами были реализованы следующие методики изучения новых слов: визуализация слова (фразы); предположения значения нового слова; группировка слов по общему признаку; разыгрывание диалогов в конкретных ситуациях; упражнения проблемного характера; технологии активного обучения (игры, метод проектирования). Отметим, что задания соответствуют требованиям ФГОС второго поколения, основной целью которого является формирование коммуникативной компетенции обучающихся.
