ICT applications can be implemented in the following forms: use of
computer presentations; using the interactive whiteboard; work with training
multimedia disks / programs; work with Internet resources.
An important aspect of the ICT usage at a foreign language lessons is
project activity. Multimedia presentations have actively been introduced to
learning process. Students use the Internet to collect material for projects.
One of the possibilities of using multimedia technologies is the
preparation and conduct of integrated classes. You can conduct a foreign
language class in a computer class, preparing for this multimedia presentation
with a bright video sequence (illustrations, video clips, sound). Such a
presentation the teacher can prepare or involve students to presentation
creation. This presentation can be used during various forms of training or as a
multimedia guide for the independent work of students in preparation for the
lesson.
Traditionally, the study of a topic or section ends with repetition,
consolidation and generalization. All these elements can be combined,
suggesting to the trainees on the final stage of each topic, to create a
multimedia project, instead of the traditional abstract. Creating a
presentation, the students are given an excellent opportunity to systematize
the acquired knowledge and skills, their practical application, as well as the
ability to realize intellectual potential and abilities. It is very important
for students to feel interest in independent creative work, to feel the
significance of the results of their work, since presentation is a ready-made
methodical material for the lesson, as well as to feel your own success.
Using
computer technology helps:
•
attract passive listeners to active work;
•
Make the classes more vivid and intense;
•
to form an information culture among students;
•
to increase cognitive interest of students;
•
to realize the personality-oriented and differentiated approaches to training;
•
discipline the teacher himself, form his interest in the work;
There
are several directions for using ICT in foreign languages teaching:
1.
Multimedia products and computer training programs usage.
2.
Create your own multimedia presentations and other products.
First
of all, it is the opportunity to use the computer as a means of informational
support of the learning process in the lesson. Used by the PC and when creating
student projects. Presentations can also be used simply to create a lesson:
announcing the topic of the lesson, setting goals and objectives, to provide
visibility.
Thus,
the use of Microsoft Power Point presentations makes it possible to make the
lesson more spectacular, rich and effective.
3.
Creating your own multimedia and training programs.
Such
programs are very convenient and effective to use when working with grammatical
and lexical material. An example of such a program can be the Electronic
Allowance for Students. Now there is an opportunity to use different test
programs that are offered on the Internet.
Of course, making tests is a complicated task, it takes a lot of time,
but it's worth it, because the effectiveness of the tests is high, because they
are not only a controlling character, but also a training one. Students can see
in what tasks they made mistakes, do the test again, and not only achieve the
correct execution, but also memorize the necessary material.
Thus, the use of information and communication technologies in English
language lessons contributes to the increase of students' motivation and
activation of their speech activity, the effective assimilation of educational
material. Practical use of ICT presupposes a new kind of cognitive activity of
students, the result of which is the formation of skills to replenish knowledge
independently, to search and navigate in the flow of information.
Computer training programs have many advantages over traditional
teaching methods. They allow you to train different types of speech activity
and combine them in different combinations, help to understand language
phenomena, form language abilities, create communication situations, automate
linguistic and speech actions, and also ensure the implementation of an
individual approach and the intensification of independent work of students.
Information technology allows you to change the organization of the
learning process of students, forming their system thinking, use computers to
individualize the learning process and turn to fundamentally new cognitive
tools. With proper organization and appropriate methodology, the use of
information technology makes the educational process more open to new ideas and
sources of knowledge. Specificity of the computer as a means of learning is
associated with its characteristics such as complexity, universality,
interactivity. Interactive training based on multimedia programs allows more
complete implementation of a whole range of methodological, didactic,
pedagogical and psychological principles, making the learning process more
interesting and creative.
Thus, the use of information and communication technologies in English
language lessons contributes to the increase of students' motivation their
speech activity, the effective assimilation of educational material. Practical
use of ICT implies a new kind of cognitive activity of students, the result of
which is the formation of skills to replenish knowledge independently, to
search and navigate in the information flow.
New information technologies attract students and are one of their main
interests. Therefore, the use of information technology in the educational
process contributes to the formation of positive motivation. The advantage of
using a computer is that it allows you to improve the professional level of
teachers. Getting acquainted with new ICT is amazing with its opportunities,
which are opened for improving the educational process and the education system
as a whole. New information technologies, introduced in education, contribute
to its rise to a qualitatively new level.
