SKYPE FOR IMPROVING COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Global world, we live in,
demands the deep knowledge of English
and acquires the central place in all spheres of life. English has become a
great necessity for almost everyone to learn in order to communicate globally.
This has also been reflected in the educational system in our country, where
English has taken the position of the foreign language number one.
Nowadays, the students of our country, like in other countries in the
world, has experienced the great influence of globalization on education
system, which gives big progress in raising the knowledge skills and standards
of the educational process. The role of education, as a lifelong learning
process, under the influence of globalization has become the main subject of
many discussions for the recent time.
Today there have been changes in the labor
market, which have been resulted in demands not only for more knowledge of
English, as the international language. English learning teaching belongs to
the things that have been affected by globalization. That’s why the impact of
the global role of English in learning system of high education institutions in
our country is tremendous.
The main role of the Ukrainian university
education is to create good conditions for students in their personal development
and self-realization bringing them as the new intelligent citizens into“ global
citizens“ with high level of language knowledge and communicative skills to
influence the global society. It is necessary to prepare students to self-education and use
their knowledge in the real life.
The analysis of the investigation has
shown that Skype is considered to be the most effective and popular method of
improving communication skills. Using Skype at the academic lessons one can
immediately notice a good connection between academic classroom and students.
The students can
learn the easiest language means possession of different types of speech
activity, which to a certain point, are the purpose of training, and then use
them for the development of more complex language actions.
The analysis of the articles devoted to the
Skype online training video showed that teachers are now using the
videoconferencing tool in order to connect foreign-language students to native
speakers hold virtual host conversations with scientists and other experts.
English language podcasts are the best way
to learn and communicate quickly, especially they help quickly improve students’ listening skills and English in
proficiency for those who need to use business English. Using transcript help
students to comprehend podcasts better if something is confused. So students
can listen and read podcasts at the same time.
As for using Skype
technologies in the National University of Pharmacy (Ukraine)during teaching English we can absolutely underline
that English Skype is also better way to
improve students’ lexical vocabulary,
grammar knowledge and skills to listen and understand real English. They are
based on the introduction of new words, grammar constructions, watching video
films, episodes, where students can hear
the given and explained vocabulary and the given grammar constructions in the
everyday English speech. After watching video material, the students have a wonderful opportunity to do
self-assessment work, doing lexical and grammar exercises and check themselves
using keys after the tasks. The lessons are conducted during the break and last
about 30 minutes every day. The teaching staff of the University and students
can have a good practice every day.
Skype English teaching course in our
University gives a strong base and practice as for developing and improving
communication skills. After watching our online lessons learners needn’t
tutorial. They can continue to enrich their knowledge of the English language
reading English books, listening to English audio or watching English movies.
So,
as we see, using Skype lessons for
teaching and improving English is an effective method of language
learning. This method of teaching is actual nowadays. It will play a key role
in training and developing individual
creative abilities and potential of the students in the nearest future.
