Introduction of the innovation technology into the educational process as exemplified by “History of Kazakh cinema” syllabus

New millennium is, first of all, the multicultural society, scientific and technological progress that demands for new approaches in training of qualified specialist in higher educational establishments.

«Higher education in Kazakhstan is a system that produces country’s intellectual resources directly…  Higher education in Kazakhstan is involved in Bologna Process from 2004 de facto, and from 2010 de jure… » [1, page. 4]. The Bologna Process is successfully implemented among a number higher education establishments in the country with Kazakh National Academy of Arts named after T. Zhurgenov being one of those.

Kazakh National Academy of Arts named after T. Zhurgenov is a leading institution in creative majors among other higher education establishments in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Developing the finest traditions of Kazakhstani cinema education, the “Study of Art” department gradually creates its own model of teaching. Thus, a new course of studies “History of Kazakh Cinema” introduces the students with the origination, development and modern state of Kazakhstani cinematography. The course explores the bond between the historical events in the country and the society, it studies the periods of the Republic’s growth as reflected in cinematography; researches the history of Kazakh cinema evolution in the world expanse; it correlates the art of leading masters and new theoretical concepts of both soviet period and those in modern Kazakhstan.

Course objective: grant knowledge in film art history, give a survey introduction with the art of cinema maestros as well as with the trends in art development of the national film production.

Course tasks: students should acquire maximum skills in film analysis and get acknowledged with the tendencies and trends in modern Kazakhstani cinematography [2].

The purpose of innovation technologies introduction is the development of better skills of perception of a new vector in studying the material by students which in turn will stimulate students to independently build and adjust their individual educational process.

There is a primary objective set before Kazakhstan’s film education. It will carry out  informatization and introduce elements of modern innovative technologies into practice at all stages of educational process, including application of distance studying. The department of History and Theory of Cinema plans to hold video conferences (webinar) in the class of "History of the Kazakh Cinema". It shall include a workshop with experts from around the world, who also study Kazakh cinema.

We also elaborate the project which will include making of the video classes regarding the issues of history and trends in Kazakh cinema development. The video classes will be made with Kazakhstani film study specialists and department teachers. Students majoring in "Art criticism" with "History and Theory of Cinema" department will take part in common initiative on the joint project on creation and adaptation of video classes. We will also invite the students majoring in "Cinema and TV", directors, camera operators, sound producers. Collaboration of teachers and students in the creative educational project will allow trainees to find our how the acquired skills and knowledge are applied in practice.

«Exploring the national cinema experience, the theorist would inevitably tend to contemplate the national values in the system of world cinema » [3, p. 12], and would also «analyze the essence of cinema as a form of art », starting with the very first pages of story development and later study its components such as: script, type, genre, style, method. This is why the video classes on “History of Kazakh cinema” will be followed by video classes on contiguous courses.

The video class will help the student with comprehension of lecture material which would use additional materials: video inserts, photos, and also actors, directors, screenwriters, and film crew interviews. That will allow the student to go deep into material, to develop independence in studying and understanding of material. Thus, the incremental strategy of introduction of innovations in educational process will allow introducing and developing a very much needed remote education in Kazakh National Academy of Arts named after T. Zhurgenov.

Methodological value of innovative projects consists, firstly, of project involvement of a wide range of domestic and foreign film directors, cameramen, screenplay writers, film critics that promotes not only to acquisition of necessary professional skills for future cinema experts, but mainly to consolidation of creative contacts and communications with different generations. Secondly, teachers and students increase professional level by visiting master classes and seminars held by leading experts from neighboring countries and beyond, and thus increasing their chances and train students before the International competitions and festivals.

The basic principles of introduction of innovations to the sphere of film education in Kazakhstan should become: protection and development of national cultures and cultural traditions within the multinational state by an education system; inclusion of the Kazakhstan film education in the world educational space.
