The study of biological systems

A distinctive feature of agricultural production – the intertwining of technological processes with biological. Knowledge of regularities of development of biological systems is essential to increase the efficiency of agricultural production. Modern methods of research will contribute to the deepening of knowledge about the processes of self-regulation in biological systems. Although the management processes in live nature, society and technical devices are extremely diverse, they have common features, common regularities. The rules of management are identical for both natural and artificial systems. Classical methods of research in biology has considerably deepened with a new approach based on system analysis.

Biological systems are characterized by complex multilevel hierarchical structure, they have essential features. A fundamental feature of biological systems is their ability to self-organization that involves selective absorption of substances and energy from the environment and the implementation of continuous active metabolism. Only living systems are characterized by such properties as irritability, reproduction, metabolism.

The main form of control in biological systems – appropriate self-regulation. Optimization of the behavior of biological systems in a changing environment is in the form of self-regulation. The appropriateness of the behavior of biological systems lies in their desire to improve the organization, improve internal structure, reliability of operation of the system. There are various types of self-regulation of biological systems.

At the appearance of the disturbing effects of environmental factors biological system is able to maintain some of its parameters at a constant level.

Biological systems can be considered as partially open. The inputs and outputs of biological systems are controlled by the system itself depending on its condition.

The structure of the self-regulation of biological systems specific. Managing and controlled subsystems are not always clearly delineated, they are intertwined. With long-term effects of disturbing environmental factors biological system can reorganize its internal structure and change some functions.

An essential capability of biological systems is their ability to the evolution of the systematic changes in the environment. Thanks to the development of new forms of biological systems adapt to changing conditions in such a degree as to be able to use new types of matter and energy from the environment.

Unlike technical systems biological have the ability to heal itself and reproduce itself. The feedback mechanism in biological systems is also specific.

In the process of evolution and under the influence of mutations changes of heredity. During the breeding process these new properties are realized in new forms. If the latter be more adapted than existing earlier, they multiply more rapidly.

If the changed individuals are less fit, then they die and the system stabiliziruemost on the initial state.

Biological systems are able to stabilize, but they are essentially dynamic, and the concept of sustainability as applied to them has its own characteristics. The stability of biological systems means a constant balance of their condition. The most typical type of behavior of biological systems is the transition mode. In characterizing the behavior of biological systems, the term "stable disequilibrium". Living organisms are never at equilibrium in the strict sense. Due to the presence of free energy, properties of irritability, excitability, accompanied by the energy processes, the systematic adaptation to changing environmental conditions, the equilibrium of the biological system is constantly violated.
