The higher mathematics and the distance learning

Modern information technologies offer great opportunities for organizations of all types of training. But the question of quality assurance in higher mathematics learning in distance education today remains relevant. Mathematical disciplines are included in all general education standards of all directions of higher education. Therefore, the implementation of a distance learning system for any special study of mathematics plays an important role.

The quality of the study of higher mathematics in distance education is influenced by this  objective factors:

- mathematics is the discipline of natural sciences and the specifics of its learning  involves to memorize a large number of formulas and to use them correctly;

- the traditional perception of mathematics as a purely theoretical science leads us to underestimating its applications to other industries. And as a result, students see mathematics as a discipline, which is not related to his future profession.

Therefore, the study of mathematics by means of distance education, along with the use of standard tools, techniques and technologies of distance education, it is necessary to use methods that are characterized by active cooperation between all participants of the educational process. Such method is called collaborative learning. In this case, the following tasks are in considering:

- the student learns much better if he can establish social contacts with other members of the community;

- the ability of the student to express his thoughts clearly, correctly and logically depends of the ability to communicate;

-in the process of social contact between students is crested the learning community of people who own certain knowledge and they are ready to get new knowledge in the process of communicating with each other, ie, in joint cognitive activity.

Teacher's role in this training is to set a theme for students (learning task), and then create and maintain a favorable environment of communication and psychological climate in which students can work in cooperation. Thus he is a full participant in this training process, so, of course, it does not absolve him of responsibility for the coordination, management of the debate, for the preparation of materials, the work plan, etc. The research for the study of educational institutions of distance learning, allowed us to formulate specific principles inherent didactic system of open education:

- student-centered nature of the educational programs,

-

 practical orientation of the content and methods of joint activity,

- activity and self-learners,

-

 problematic content and dialogical nature of the interaction in the learning process,

-

 reflexivity,

-

 variability,

- principle of keeping motivation,

-

 modular and block conception of organization of the content of educational programs and activities of students.

It is these specific principles, which cause the introduction of learning in collaboration with training math.  They are:

- project method, which suggests a complex process of learning, allowing the student to show independence in the planning, organization and control of their. The method of the projects is the development of the cognitive creative interests of students, abilities to form their own knowledge and to orient in the information space, the development of critical thinking. This method of learning is always directed to the independent activity of students (individual, pair, group), which is carried out within a certain period of time;

- method of problem-based learning is based on the consideration of complex cognitive tasks which have considerable practical and theoretical interest.  In the process of problem-based learning students' attention is focused on the problems of stimulating cognitive activity, contributing to the development of skills to solve problems. The educational process is built around the student, all the work is organized in small groups. Teacher's role is reduced to monitoring, to support, but not more;

- research method can be characterized by the presence of a clear set of relevant and meaningful for the participants purposes, considered and reasonable structure, extensive use of the arsenal of research methods, scientific methods for processing and presentation of results. The principle of access and content becomes the leading research methods. Subject of research projects should reflect the most pressing problems of the subject area, consider their implications for the development of research skills of students;

- gaming techniques in distance learning get the new birth. They are able to solve a lot of problems caused by the specifics of the educational environment of virtual communication. The Internet becomes the medium, which makes its own laws didactic implementation of this method. From a pedagogical point of view the game are: teaching, training, supervising, cognitive, educational, developmental, reproductive, creativity, communication, etc. By the nature of gaming techniques we distinguish subject, plot, role, business, simulation, and etc games. Cooperative learning involves a group of students working together. For it to be successful, students will learn a series of algorithms, techniques, and methods of joint decision-making, development of a common strategy and problems, search for their solution , that are successfully used in the further course of the discussions, networking, projects, etc. Sometimes it can be a situation that requires a collective decision or new ideas to be generated in a very short period of time. Here the method of "brainstorming." is a well-proven technique. In the Internet environment, "brainstorming" effective for multimedia, audio and video conferencing and on-line chats, ie in intensive communication in real time.

         The use of these techniques will improve the quality of training in practical skills of mathematics. However, given all the foregoing, we should not forget the role of lecturing material in distance learning.  To ensure the quality of teaching materials in the form of distance we need to simplify  the material and its mandatory visibility. The lecture material should be presented by theses, well illustrated with multimedia technology, and will provide clear incentives (tasks will be shown in the application of professional future of specialists).
