Computerization as a factor of informatization educational system.
Modern period of
development is characterized by the transition from the industrial to
post-industrial (information) society and the formation of the global
information space. Now, in this regard, state information policy aimed at the
widespread introduction of informatization play the significant role.
Informatization of politics is one of the main
conditions of political and socio-economic progress, so today all civilized
states pursue a deliberate policy of information, the purpose of which is to
build an information society.
The formation of
information society is based on the use of the latest information
technology of computers and computer networks, telecommunication means in all
the spheres. Today they characterize the level of development of society and
the possibility of its integration into the world civilization, the ability of
scientists and specialists to maintain the pace of scientific technological
progress.
Informatization policy aims to solve such issues as
the development and modernization of information and telecommunications
infrastructure, the development of information and computer and
telecommunications technology, the formation of national information resources
and ensuring broad and free access to them, to prepare a man for life and work
in the new information society, etc .
To achieve these goals it’s required to have a major
transformation, development and improvement of educational and vocational
trainings. Informatization of
education, as an integral part of the information society, is to provide training for future qualified
specialists capable to effective action in the new information society and the
global information space.
Informatization of
education involves the creation of conditions for the widespread adoption of
information and communication technology in educational institutions, as well
as their active use in the learning process. However, the
computerization of education is not limited to the use of software and hardware
in the education system, but it’s a complex multi-level process involving the
creation and accumulation of educational information resources for teachers and
students, the implementation of a unified educational space, the use of
computers and computer networks as the main instruments of accumulation and
information processing, entrance into the world of information and educational
space, etc.
Informatization of education is accompanied by changes
in both the theory and practice of the educational process, and fundamental
changes in the organization of learning and in the content of learning
technologies, which must comply with the new technical possibilities of the
information society. Through the process of informatization of education there are widely developed education system,
as a continuous, distance and open education, based on the use of networked
information technology, contributing to the formation of professional
competence of the individual specialist.
Informatization of education involves a set of
measures for the implementation and use of information technology in the
education system. The main
component of this set of measures is computerization, which is based on the
process of education informatization. Computerization provides a technical
basis for the computerization of education. However, apart
from this aspect, it is necessary to examine and develop the content side of
computerization, the effectiveness of which should be evaluated not only by the
amount of the technical means, but also the implementation and use of a single
information system, training of educational space.
Formation of a single educational space is based on
large-scale computerization and active use of information computer and
telecommunications technologies and systems. Currently in the process of
computerization some trends are viewed such as increased fleet of new
generation computers, moving previously purchased models of computers in
regional offices or personal use, the development of the assembly industry and
modernization of computers, intensive development of software for local and
global networks, and increasing the number of active use of home computers, the
growth sector of the market that is associated with the provision of a variety
of network services, etc.
Development of different types of lines and channels,
branched telecommunication networks, empowering the implementation of network
services create technological preconditions for mass home computing, which in
turn allows to change radically the education system. Capabilities of modern
computer tools, such as visualization of educational information, fast
feedback, automation process and search and processing information, etc.,
create the preconditions for the intensification of the educational process.
Computerization of the education system requires the
development of training activities in two directions: on the one hand, it is
necessary to study the computer and computer information technology as tools of
information processing, and on the other hand, the necessity of mastering
methods and techniques of computer tools in learning activities.
Computerisation involves the use of the computer not
only as a learning tool, but also a multi-purpose use of the computer in the
learning process. The use of computer tools and technologies in the education
system can significantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of training
activities on all sides, from the process of development of various subjects
and finishing techniques for monitoring and evaluation of knowledge.
Computerization of education allows to organize the
learning process in a dialogue mode, consider the rate of assimilation of
students learning material, to implement an individualized approach to
learning, organize communication between students and information and
educational communities, make learning more active and interesting.
Computerization has an impact on all components of the
educational process. It
imposes certain requirements for the level of information culture of teachers,
as well as their willingness to use computer tools and technologies in the
learning process. Achieving positive results computerization requires
the development of new subject programs involving the use of computers and
computer technology.
Computerization of the education system is a tool that
allows potentially make the learning process more effective. From the
realization of this potential depends on the problem of improving the education
system on the basis of information technologies and implementing a widespread
policy of informatization of education, which will integrate the national
education system in the information infrastructure of the world community.
