INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGICAL ASPECTS
IN THE EDUCATION OF FUTURE BANK EMPLOYEES
Integration
into the world educational space requires constant improvement the national
education system, finding effective ways to improve the quality of educational
services, testing and implementation of innovative pedagogical systems, and
ensuring equal access of all citizens to quality education, opportunity and
freedom of choice in education, modernization of the content of education and
the organization of its adequate to world tendencies and requirements of the
labour market, ensuring continuity of education and lifelong learning,
development of state-public management model. The key task of education in the
XXI century is the development of thinking, focused on the sustainable future.
The modern labor market requires from the
graduate not only the deep theoretical knowledge and ability to apply them in a
non-standard, constantly changing situations, the transition from a society of
knowledge to society vitally competent citizens.
Special
attention in the context of our study is drawn to the problem of a rigid
banking competition in today's economic environment. «Globalization and
integration of the Ukrainian banking system into the European world society
demands regarding its competitiveness» [88, S. 40]. Studying features,
prospects and requirements to specialists in the competitive struggle in the
market of banking services are investigated by Azarenkova, R. Vahtel, A.
Galchinski, V. Geyets, A. Kinakh, V. Semynozhenko, M Kwasniy, Ch. Lindshtadt,
M. Wolf , V. Pischik, V. Pospelova, V. Pradun,
A. Savchenko, and others.
Analysis
of scientific works shows high interest in the problems of increasing the
banking competitiveness. In Particular, V. Pradun notes: «the banking system of
Ukraine, in spite of the difficulties caused by the political situation in the
state, increasing instability of the currency, financial markets, ... developed
more dynamically than other segments of the economy. However, the problem of
competitiveness of the country's banking system remains unresolved, especially
considering the dynamics of global banking systems» [3, p.10].
Banking
is part of the economic education. Economic education has to develop students
clear vision of the scientific laws of economy development and peculiarities of
market relations, systematic formation of economic knowledge future
professionals, high organization and creative initiatives, training them to
highly professional work, skilful and careful attitude to nature, to develop
the habits of practical use of economic knowledge in real life.
The main paradigm of economic education is the
understanding that the development of the economic sphere of society largely
depends on the nature of human life, his worldview, socially responsible
behavior. Training modern economists requires an understanding of the regularities
of formation and development of the reproduction processes on macro and micro
levels, in conjunction with the development of political, cultural and other
social processes.
The
formation of economic knowledge is implemented through a combination of
educational, theoretical and practical training components. Cognitive
components create not only the system of financial, technological, technical,
economic and legal knowledge, but also determine the internal culture of youth,
form its readiness to conscious harmonization of relations between society,
nature and economy. The theoretical components of training belongs to the
outlook and the ability to think creatively, which creates cost-effective and
at the same time socially responsible solutions, research skills; practical
skills.
Practical components of an economically
educated person constitute the motivation and ability continually to improve
the competence and practical use of new knowledge for the improvement and
development of technical, technological, financial, socio-economic, legal and
other support of organizational-economic and managerial processes; to develop
personal and collective potential of economic activity on the principles of
social partnership and social responsibility.
To study the features of the future
professional activity of students, we will resort to the characteristic of the
banking competition. Modern banking competition has a number of specific
features that distinguish it from other sectors of the economy, namely:
-
«For the banks there is no any problem of inaccessibility of sales channels
(production and sales of banking services can be localized within the bank).
- Lack of banking patent protection of
innovations, which leads to their rapid «renewing» the market and the
relatively higher intensity of competition in the area of economic relations.
- The object of competition are not the goods,
and resources, therefore the methods of price and non-price competition can be
used both attraction and placement of resources.
- Peculiarities of banking competition will be
determined also as the specifics of the economic environment and financial
market of a particular country, the efficiency of its state-legal mechanism,
the degree of development of the banking sector, norms and principles of state
regulation of competitive relations in the banking sector» [2, p. 51].
Banking
competition of any country, on the one hand, has its own specific features,
and, due to globalization processes, accelerated and subject to the conditions
of the world market of banking services. Banks, performing such conditions, in
order not to lose competitive advantages, must constantly improve their
services in accordance with clients ' needs, introduce advanced management
structure, which would allow to flexibly respond to the impact of external
processes and to make appropriate management decisions.
The
above mentioned indicators necessary for the banking success are the features
which are necessary for formation during teaching in higher institutions. In
addition, analysis of requirements for specialists of bans showed that credit
institutions are in need of such employees:
-
qualified, capable and purposefully to communicate with the bank's clients and
colleagues,
- able clearly to explain the complex
operations in the field of financial services,
- able to realize macroeconomic relationships
and various aspects of the Bank's policies and to include them in his case,
together with the team of specialists of the Bank can successfully solve the financial
problems of their clients and colleagues.
In
the course of research we have determined the peculiarities of banking as a
professional environment. It was found that the main features of the work in
credit and financial sphere, in the opinion of A. Alaverdov, refer to [1, p.
13-14]:
- narrow subject specialization associated
with a wide range of multidisciplinary nature of banking services;
- high qualification requirements on the
majority of directions of activity;
- the process of labor activity has mainly of
individual character, that is, in the implementation of the specific Bank
operation most often participates not a collective but a private specialist who
can hold their colleagues as consultants or technical staff;
- special requirements to the resource, first
of all, information support of a labor activity, the results of which are
directly connected with completeness, reliability, timeliness of receipt of the
information;
- especially stressful work not only of
management, but also the of the executive staff, which is the result of the
specifics of banking operations. One of the ways to achieve innovativeness of
the banks is the level of possession by the specialists of the information
processing skills. Now all the more the flow of information becomes intensive,
so it brings to the rapidly developing information technologies. Computer
systems and networks are an essential means of support of innovation systems
and used as artificial intelligence, expert systems. Under the ownership of the
information technology we understand the skills of the future specialist to
find, analyze, select, use, store and transmit information, necessary for
innovation activity, using the necessary resources (electronic, print, human).
Information technology provide an opportunity for specialists of banking work
in an electronic banking environment, telecommunication networks, information
in the clearing operations, management of the activity of banks, systems of
electronic payments with the use of ATMs and payment cards, non-paper
documents, analyze investments and the financial market etc.
-
Selection of the technological component in the structure of training of future
bank employees are also conditioned by the importance of ownership of banking
technologies, since the banks are on the one hand, and implement internal
innovations, and on the other, actively cooperating with the subjects of
innovative business. A significant sign of modernity is that Ukrainian banks
have started to operate in the new environment: crediting of innovation,
science intensive technologies and know-how. In the process of financing
innovation activity, banks can perform three functions, namely, [2, p. 160]:
- carry out crediting incomplete scientific
and research on order;
- on behalf of customers monitor an innovative
project, the progress and quality of works on research and development of
science-intensive products, responsible for purposeful and effective use of the
allocated funds to the Bank's receipt of a Commission for their services;
- act as investors of an innovative project.
It is quite clear that such activity requires
special training of the personnel to participate in innovation processes.
