THE
POSSIBILITIES OF THE INTERNET-RESOURCES
FOR FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHING STUDENTS
SECONDARY SCHOOLS
The use of
information technologies in educational process in secondary schools received a
wide circulation. A great contribution to the development of computer
technologies of training have made such scientists: S. Peipert [3], G. Kleiman, [3], B. Hunter [3] and others. A
variety of didactic problems of computerization of education are reflected in
the works by A.
Ershov [3], A. Kuznetsov [3], S. Sergeva [3], I. Robert [3],
methodical - in N. Talizina’s works [3], the psychological problems were disclosed V. Tikhomirov [3] and others. Over
the last decade was written a large number of works in which researchers reveal
the positive impact of various forms of Internet resources on the formation of
foreign communicative competence of students. Internet resources is invaluable
and boundless base for creation of an information subject environment,
education and self-education of people meet their professional and personal
interests. However, access to Internet resources is not a guarantee of rapid
and high-quality language education. In scientific literature there are many
examples when methodically wrong construction work of students with the
resources of the Internet contributed to the formation in them of false
stereotypes of the target language. Therefore, at the present stage there is a
need to develop and implement new educational Internet resources aimed at
complex formation and development aspects of foreign language communicative
competence, ability to use Internet resources for solving training tasks. Consider
the methodological possibilities of Internet resources on the example of the
method web quest»that can be applied in the educational process when learning a
foreign language.
In the
didactic terms of Internet includes at least two main components: forms of
telecommunications and information resources. The most common forms of
telecommunications include: email, chat, forum, ICQ, video and web conferencing
and others. Information resources of the Internet contain text, audio and
visual material on different subjects in different languages. However, in order
schoolchildren had the opportunity to more efficiently use his time to the
solution of educational tasks, the need arose to develop specialized Internet
resources, which are created only for educational purposes.
Use in the
classroom forms of telecommunications and Internet resources contributes to the
development of cognitive activity of students and the decision of educational
problems.
There are
many definitions of the term «Web quest»: 1) modern technology, which is based
on a design a teaching method and involves search activities students [2]; 2)
Internet site used by the students when performing educational tasks [1]; 3)
Internet search, which contributes to the solution of educational tasks using
materials from a certain list of sources [3]. Web quest also can be described
as a scenario of the project activities for students on any topic, using the
resources of the Internet. One of the scenarios organization of project
activity with the use of Internet-resources can have the following structure.
First, the class gets acquainted with the subject that will be taught. Next,
students are assigned to groups and decide defined by the teacher for this
group of tasks (some aspect/questions on the topic). The teacher needs to
pre-select the resources of the Internet for each group in accordance with the
task that was offered. After studying, discussion and understanding of the
material in each of the primary group of students regrouped in each of the
newly formed group, one representative from each of the primary group. During
the discussion, all students learn from each other aspects of the topic that
was given to work with. During this discussion, the pupils should also give its
own assessment, make conclusions, to predict possible future course of events.
In the course of solving a web quest through the study of material and
discussion students must answer one common questions for discussions.
In
pedagogical activity of the teacher can use already existing Internet resources
on topics or create them yourself. If the teacher has the desire to create an
Internet resource or you can use a special program, which is available online,
or create a list of references in the text editor.
Thus, the use
of traditional teaching methods combined with information technologies can be
useful when learning a foreign language pupils of secondary schools. Further
consideration acquired features of application of a method web quest» in the
learning process of students of higher educational institutions.
