Teaching background and experience on the Postgraduate Education Division showed that the most efficient results in regards to perception of educational material and promotion of thinking process of doctors – interns can be obtained through the appropriate provision and distribution of studied material among lectures, practical and seminar classes, including self – instruction of doctors – interns for these classes.

One of the main forms of preparation of doctors – interns is their active participation in the research and practice conferences. Their training is a kind of self-instruction activities that works towards more profound studying of the certain part of the educational program, it helps to solidify obtained theoretical knowledge and, at the end, it is one of the methods for efficiency improvement of the educational process and enhancement of the preparation quality of young specialists.

Department of Stomatology of Postgraduate Education Division for each part of intramural form of study on internship training makes a discipline-related schedule of the research and practical conferences that covers the most challenging topics of all stomatology sections. The writing of reports is being performed without direct participation of teacher, but pursuant to his task and schedule that helps doctor – intern to achieve the defined purpose consciously. According to the appropriate procedures, the reports are being refereed by teachers of the department. The topics of conferences are very relevant, as during the preparations of reports (multi-media based), a doctor – intern is studying and analyzing literature sources under this topic (both – main and additional sources), he uses data of his  clinical observations, experience of performed practical skills that allow doctor-intern to execute work by himself and to learn how to analyze material independently. The conference also allows organizing mental activity of the doctor and teaches him to represent thoughts before the audience. After the reporter speech, there is a discussion of obtained information by group of audience members and teachers.

The topics of interest in the Therapeutic Dentistry are following: «Modern tooth filling materials: resin luting cements, polycarboxylates, glass ionomers, compomer restorative materials, sealants, etc.», «Bonding systems for dental enamel and dentin», «Adhesive techniques for restoration» and other.

We pay much attention to such topics, as «Oncological alertness in the stomatology», «Tactics of doctor-stomatologist in case of presence of appositions on the maxillofacial area and in mouth cavity». These topics are extremely important in stomatology, as early (timely) finding of pre-malignant conditions or malignant growth of oral mucosa and tissues of maxillofacial area is an important broad – declared task in the work of doctor – stomatologist of any specialty and it gives opportunity to draw attention to the issue of oncological alertness.

Taking into consideration that nowadays there are military actions in our country, as supplementary to the lecture materials about the provision of specialized medical aid to people, who were injured in maxillofacial area, we are planning for doctors – interns a topic for research and practice conference about the peculiarities of clinical progression of gun-shot injuries in contrast with non-ballistic wounds.

The topics of conferences are very relevant; they allow a doctor-intern to reveal main and additional sources on this topic independently. In the report for conference, a doctor – intern tries to provide material in the right manner and to choose main points of topic. He also tries to generate a methodology of multi-based speech, using different schedules and slides that together with thematic material allow performing mass teaching.

During the preparation and conduction of research and practice conferences with doctors – interns under the program of maxillo-facial surgery, we put an emphasis on the issues of deontology in stomatology, especially in maxillo-facial surgery, as their professional activity is being defined not only by legislation, responsibility, but also by ethical and moral norms, medical ethic and deontology; by categories of duty and sense of conscience. We also draw special attention of our future maxillo-facial surgeons (especially those, who will be working in a surgical hospital) to the fact that their work will be connected with state of tension, exceptional patience and self-control. Thus, we put an emphasis on the formation of morally – deontological aspects of the profession of doctor.

The positive side of such conferences is the matter that they can be used for fastest introduction of scientific achievements of department into the practice as conferences witness the latest achievements in the area of diagnostics and treatment of patients, as well as new directions in order to settle the issues of scientific and practical stomatology.

Our prior experience working with interns shows that a research and practice conference is a perfect method of teaching of doctors-interns for their further work in practical healthcare; it teaches them to follow literature, latest offers of dental materials, and to differentiate them carefully for treatment of patients.

The preparation of reports for conference is one of types of individual work that has a beneficial effect on more profound studying of certain paragraph of educational program; it helps to solidify the obtained theoretical knowledge and, at the end, it is one of the methods for efficiency improvement of the educational process and enhancement of the preparation quality of young specialists.

Thus, we complete one of the most important tasks that Higher Educational Institution faces – to develop a future clinician, to show him the way of working with literature sources and to analyze obtained information. Such self-guided work helps to generate own ideas, the individual standpoint.

During the conduction of research and practice conferences, we draw special attention of doctor-interns to the idea that the constant learning process of doctor at all levels has a crucial meaning and it is very important to treat carefully to the knowledge, experience and credibility of their colleagues.
