Literary style as a functional style

Literary  style as a functional style finds application in fiction, which performs figurative-cognitive and ideological-aesthetic functions. In order to understand the peculiarities of the literary method of cognition of reality, of thinking that determines the specificity of artistic speech, it is necessary to compare it with the scientific method of cognition, which determines the characteristic features of scientific speech [1:10].

Fictional  literature, as well as other types of art, inherent specific-figurative representation of life in contrast to the abstracted, logical-conceptual, objective reflection of reality in scientific speech. For a work of art is characterized by perception through the senses and re-creation of reality, the author seeks to convey primarily his personal experience, his understanding and understanding of this or that phenomenon.

In the literary  style, attention is drawn to the particular and the casual, behind which the typical and general is traced.

The world of fiction is a "re-created" world, the depicted reality is in a certain degree an authorial fiction, and therefore, in the literary style of speech, the dominant role is played by the subjective moment. All surrounding reality is represented through the author's vision [1:11]. But in the literary text we see not only the writer's world, but also the writer in the artistic world: his preferences, convictions, admiration, rejection, etc. With this are associated emotionality and expressiveness, metaphorical, meaningful multifaceted artistic style of speech.

The lexical composition and functioning of words in the artistic style of speech have their own peculiarities. Among the words that form the basis and create the imagery of this style, first of all, figurative means of the Russian literary language, as well as words that realize their significance in the context. These are words of a wide range of uses. Narrow special words are used to an insignificant degree, only to create artistic certainty in describing certain aspects of life.

In the literary style of speech, the verbal polysemy of the word is very widely used, which opens up additional meanings and semantic nuances in it, as well as synonymy on all linguistic levels, which makes it possible to emphasize the subtlest shades of meaning. This is because the author strives to use all the richness of the language, to create his own unique language and style, to a bright, expressive, imaginative text. The author uses not only the lexicon of the codified literary language, but also a variety of graphic means from colloquial speech and common speech.

Emotionality and expressiveness of the image come to the fore in the artistic text. Many words that in scientific discourse appear as clearly defined abstract concepts, in newspaper-public speech - as socially generalized concepts, in artistic speech - as concrete-sensory concepts. Thus, styles are functionally complementary. For literary  speech, especially poetic, the inversion is characteristic, i.e. change the usual order of words in the sentence in order to strengthen the semantic significance of a word or to give the whole phrase a special stylistic coloring [2]. Variants of the author's order of words are diverse, subordinate to the general plan.

In literary speech, deviations from structural norms are possible, conditioned by literary actualization, i.e. author's isolation of some idea, features important for the meaning of the work. They can be expressed in violation of phonetic, lexical, morphological and other norms.

On the diversity, richness and expressive possibilities of linguistic means, the literary  style stands above other styles, is the most complete expression of the literary language.

As a means of communication, literary speech has its own language - a system of figurative forms, expressed by linguistic and extra-linguistic means. Literary  speech along with non-fiction performs a nominative-visual function [3:25].
