The integrated and innovative teaching methods
The teaching of the course biochemistry
pays great attention to interdisciplinary communication, which is very
important for the harmonious relationship between parts of the whole. An
integrated approach reflects the objective integrity of the system links the
different levels. The integration process is due to fill, development
associations in the whole previously disparate pieces, it leads to increased
levels of integrity and organization of the elements of the system. In the
course of integration increases the volume relationships, ordered the operation
of individual parts of the system and the integrity of the object of knowledge.
How to implement these general provisions in the course of biochemistry?
Success in teaching
biochemistry, development and education of students depends on the formation of
their ideas about the unity of the body, awareness of the need to regulate the
activities of the body based on the knowledge of general biological, chemical,
anatomical, physiological, biochemical laws and regulations, disclosure of inside
and interdisciplinary connections. We use various integration levels: beginner,
combining basic knowledge such as on the structure, properties and functions of
the cell organelles, for the study of the stages of metabolism, mechanisms of
absorption and transport of substances through cell membranes (integration with
subjects - biology, biophysics); Intermediate - integration of knowledge
partition topics in subjects such as the structure of the nephron membrane
(integration with objects -anatomy, histology, biophysics); stages of formation
of urine, to a complete understanding of the chemical composition of the
primary and secondary urine in normal and pathological conditions, such as
understanding the causes, renal and extra renal proteinuria, which is very
important for the formation of clinical thinking of students of medical
university. Final - integration at the final stage of training in connection
with the study of biochemical processes, such as the exchange considered a
certain class of substances. Understanding the mechanisms of integration of all
types of metabolism, for the operation of the organism as a whole at all levels
of structural organization: cellular, intercellular, tissue, organ and whole
with integration and control systems of the entire body. We consider the
interdisciplinary communication and intra subject communications, both direct
and inverse.
Direct is used when the
previously formed concepts, knowledge, justified by new information. Modern
teaching enough to be erudite, he should be able to make creative use of
existing knowledge on the topics of biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology and
other sciences for the solution of the concept of new problems in the course of
biochemistry, which in turn is important and is the basic subject for in-depth
development of the students' knowledge on subsequent theoretical and clinical
disciplines. One of the methods of implementation and integration of a broad
introduction of innovative technologies that will bring new ways of interaction
between teachers and students [1, 2, p.19-27].
The introduction and use of
innovative teaching methods should be directed to the formation of personality
of students in accordance with the set objectives in the shortest possible
time. Method TBL (team based learning training in small groups) is a type of
innovative teaching that allows students to develop teamwork skills. This
technology allows a single teacher to effectively teach a few small groups in
the classroom, and the quality of teaching is comparable to learning a small
group [3.4, p. 250-257, 5, 533-5]. Awareness of the need to change the
traditional way of teaching, in order to promote active learning and critical
thinking through the application of knowledge as opposed to merely memorizing
facts by simply transferring knowledge from teacher to student, led to the
decision to use the technology in practical classes. In order to improve
teaching quality, continuity, implementing the integration of training,
designed and conducted studies and vertical and horizontal integration using
techniques TBL.
