Promotion of web-sites

So, you want to make a useful, beautiful and convenient site. What does it take? What factors affect the popularity of the web- site? Where best to start creating your own website? And what errors can trap along the way?

I tried to identify the main reasons that, in my opinion, affect the popularity of the site:

• The content or content - is one of the most important components. If the site has no useful information that could interest a certain group of people, you can raise the question of the need of the site itself. Think of how many useful pages you have seen in recent times in comparison with the total number of places you've visited?

• Design - the second most important component of a good website. From the design depends on how attractive are pages, i.e. in the end, how many people will want to come further and look at your site. After all, if you loved the design of the site, you're sure you tell your friends about it. Do not forget that encounter something on clothes.

In order to make a good website, do not even have to use graphics. There are useful sites with a minimum of graphics (or even without it), and the mass of useless scored megabyte pictures. For web- site, as well, and for other design projects, it is essential style of the site, giving him his own face and recognition. In future articles I will describe the fundamentals and principles of creating stylish web- pages.

• The download speed of your pages - no sane person would not wait for downloading your pages in an hour. It follows from this conclusion - the need to optimize the page for their smallest size (of course, within reason). Let's calculate the maximum allowable average WEB-page.

Assume High load routers (computers, transmitting information from one network to the other) is greater than during the night. In addition, if your server is on a computer that is connected to your ISP via a dial (or leased) line at 14400 bit/s, the person sitting on the other side of the Internet, would not achieve speeds higher than this (I exclude cases with Proxy- server, because they are mainly stored frequently requested information - e.g. , search page). I accept the valid one page download time of 40 seconds (this value has been obtained by personal experience:) - hence 40 * 1200 = 48KB - this will be the maximum amount that can be page with all graphics, located on it. If you want to place larger information, then warn the user about this or distribute information across multiple homepages.

• Promotion of web-site - includes not only the registration of your server in all possible search engines of the world, but also tools such as the placement of information in the media (URL - in the newspaper), and the mention of your website on your business cards, flyers, newspaper and magazine articles, etc. In addition, the web-site must be mentioned E-mail to communicate with you, or, in his absence, even if the phone number.

• Clear and logical structure of posting information on your server - nothing is so tiring when you search for the right information, as ill-structured server.

• The lack of spelling and grammatical errors - I include this item here because of the vast number of errors on new web- sites. After all, it's just you - type text in the editor with spell checking and re-read what you've written before putting your server on a worldwide review.

Here, perhaps, and all the basic principles, compliance with which ensures the success of your WEB- site, and through it - and well-being, and the expansion of fame you, your company, club movement.

As an exercise, try to walk in the WEB and count the time for loading different pages, as well as the validity of their load (based on the content). See how clear the structure of the server and the convenience to use it.
