Peculiarities of content for the
professional training of specialists of the pharmaceutical branch in Ukraine
during 30-years of XX century
In the
history of formation and development of the professional training of
specialists for the pharmaceutical branch within 30-39th years of XX century one can distinguish certain
characteristic periods according to stage of development of our society.
Up to begin of the Second
World War the Curriculum of the professional training of specialists for the
pharmaceutical branch has been reckoned for four years and at the same time one
of which consisting accordingly of three trimesters with a general length of 30
weeks. It should mean that a degree of a Master for Pharmacia one could obtain
after three years of study. And one year more has been provided for a Defense
of the Doctor’s Work as well passing of the corresponding examinations [4, p. 184
- 185].
The Curriculum for the
professional training of specialists for the pharmaceutical branch within
1930-1939 years was consisting of the professional-oriented and special
subjects containing a wide range of the natural sciences. To a list of the
professional & oriented subjects were belonging: analytical chemistry, hygiene, general and systematical botany, zoology,
history of pharmacia, micro-biology, mineralogy, inorganic chemistry, organic
chemistry, physics, physiological chemistry, physcolloidal chemistry. To the
list of the special subjects were belonging: foodstuffs researches, first
medical aid group, Legislation & Law, technology of drugs, toxicological
chemistry, pharmacognosy, pharmacodynamics, pharmaceutical chemistry, chemical
technology of drugs, cultivation of medical plants [2, p. 64 - 65].
In accordance with
the Curriculum of the professional training of specialists for the
pharmaceutical branch to begin with the first two courses – years of study the
future specialists studied the professional & oriented subjects however the
special subjects have been studied by the students during the third and fourth
courses – years of study [2, p. 68].
Such distribution of the teaching subjects according to the courses – years of
study does indicate about a complete reservation of principles for succession
and continuity in a process of making of a Curriculum for the professional
training of specialists for the pharmaceutical branch.
The professional
training of specialists for the pharmaceutical branch did pass a complicated
way of development, different terms of study had been tested there however to
begin with the 8th of September, 1936, according to the Resolution
of the Counsel of the Peoples’ Commissars of the USSR «About Reform of the
Pharmaceutical Education and Training of the Pharmaceutics of Higher
Qualification» has been fixed a four-year of study as well determined tasks for
the pharmaceutical institutes and the place of pharmaceutical chemist [3, p. 35].
The
formation of the pharmaceutical institutes and faculties on the territory of
the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic did promote to an expansion of the
educational facilities and increasing of the scientific & pedagogical
teaching staff of the specialized Chairs for the professional training of
specialists for the pharmaceutical branch. Clearly that the events of the year
1939 must have braked this process since a further formation of the
professional training of specialists for the pharmaceutical branch generally
had been interrupted through begin in June of 1941 of the Soviet-German War.
As forms for estimating of
knowledge level, abilities and skills of the future specialists for the
pharmaceutical branch within 1930-1939 academic year of study of ХХ century
must have been yearly examinations consisting of all educational subjects according
to a corresponding course – year of study.
After a completion of study
and successfully passing of the yearly and Master’s examinations the future
specialists of the pharmaceutical branch were passing their one-year production
practice at a pharmacy. A yearly course of practice included all kinds of
activity of every pharmacy’s officers, namely: performing of accounting with
respect to therapeutic agents and means at the pharmacy, a detailed examination
and knowledge of the groups of the therapeutic agents and means, being
available at the pharmacy, practical skills on preparation drugs upon
prescription [1, 24 p.].
Conclusion about a
successfully passing of a one-year production practice did give permission for
an independently professional activity in the pharmaceutical branch.
Throughout
all way of evolution regarding the professional training of specialists for the
pharmaceutical branch curricula, content, methods of teaching were being
changed however the essence has been remained unchangeable – professional
training of specialists for the pharmaceutical branch who would be able to
think constructively and creatively, non-standard and at the same time forming
their civil position as well developing foundations of a human attitude to a
person.
