Abstract. The article is devoted to the Kazakh National University named al-Farabi. In the article we are talking about his status in the ranking of world universities. This article considers the history and structure of the University and its educational process. Ànalyzed the development strategy of the University and its future plans. Particular attention is paid to achievements of the University until today and its international cooperation with other universities in the world. The article tells about the social infrastructure of the University and the territory.

Education is a very interesting process that takes the
most time and attention. In
addition, the training forms a further way of life, professional
activities, and affects the quality of life it self in
the long term. Therefore it is very important to learn
exactly where comfortable and where you can get the necessary training.
Al-Farabi Kazakh National University is the leading institution of the system
of higher education of the Republic of
Kazakhstan, which was the first to pass the state certification and which has
justified its right to realize academic activity on all specialties and at all
levels.
Al-Farabi KazNU is the leader of the General rating of the universities
of Kazakhstan, which was the first laureate in the history of the country of
the Presidential award of the Republic of Kazakhstan “For achievements in the
area of quality”, a laureate of the Award of the CIS for achievements in the
area of quality and services . Our university, being a member of the
International Association of universities and the Co-founder of the Eurasian
Association of universities, was the first among the universities of Kazakhstan and countries of Central Asia
which has signed the Great Charter
of Universities in Bologna; it has
successfully passed the international certification on the correspondence to
the system of quality management (SQM), the requirements of international
standards ISO 9000:2000 and has obtained the certifications from the largest
global certification centers – the International Certification System IQNET
[1].
This day Al-Farabi KazNU offers you a broad range of specialties. The
university composes14 functioning faculties, 98 departments, 20 scientific
research institutes and centers, 30 scientific centers of a social and
humanitarian profile,1 - scientific and technological park; more than 2 000 professors, doctors, scientific candidates and
PhD’s, more than 100 academicians of the largest academies, about 30
honored figures of the Republic of Kazakhstan, more than 30 laureates of State and nominal awards of RK and 40 laureates of the young scientists’
awards, 45 fellows of state scientific fellowships. More than 18 000
students and masters at the multilevel system of higher professional education
study in the university. Our university cooperate with 418 largest
international universities of the world on the implementation of joint
international educational programs, interchange programs for students and
internship, traineeship.The University has created a unique informational Intranet-system
"Univer", United by a network of more than 3500 modern computers. A multilevel system of education KazNU includes:
higher basic education (baccalaureate), higher vocational education,
postgraduate and doctoral studies.
The university has 14 faculties:
Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical
Technology, Faculty of International Relations, Faculty of Oriental Studies,
Faculty for Pre-College Education, Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology,
Faculty of Geography and Nature Management, Physico-Technical Faculty, Faculty
of Mechanical Mathematics, Faculty of History, Archeology and Ethnology,
Faculty of Philosophy and Political
Science, Faculty of
Journalism, Faculty of Law, High School of Economics
and Business.
Learners were trained on 81 specialties of a bachelor degree, 84
master’s programs for 64 specialties of doctors of philosophy (PhD). Admission to university is based on state
educational grants and on a contractual basis. The university operates a
military Department, carrying out training of military occupational
specialties. Land Area – 100 hectares, the area is - 335 928 sq.m, besides, on
a territory of the Kyrgyz Republic there is a sports camp which is located by
the Issyk-kul lake (the area of 17 hectares).
The university has next properties:
-14 academic buildings
-16 student dormitories
-Student’s Palace
-Scientific library
-Food production facility, Internet center
-Sport complex and stadium
-“Keremet” student’s service center
-Agrobiostation (Janatalap)
-Sports and healthcamp on the Issyk-kullake.
Currently, KazNU well cooperates
with more than 400 biggest universities from
25 countries, 340 contracts on partership with foreign science and
education institutions: more than 20 contracts within
Consortium/association/clubs. Annually the university conducts about many
international and Republican scientific-theoretical and scientific-practical
conferences, forums, seminars, round tables on various areas of natural,
technical and socio-humanitarian sciences. Much
attention is paid to the national-cultural, spiritual and moral, aesthetic and
patriotic education of students. But
student life is not limited to learning. Many students, enthusiastically
involved in sports clubs, participate in international competitions and achieve
great success.
The University in collaboration with international partners is
implementing a number of major International scientific and educational
projects, such as the "Green bridge generation", which has its dialog
platform www.greenbridge.kaznu.kz [2].
Honors students may apply for the scholarship
from local and foreign companies and organizations. All this helps to give
students a high quality education for their future employment and development
in the competitive environment of modern society. Academic mobility of students,
training of teachers abroad, organization of joint international events is an
integral part of our work.
The
international academic mobility became the important line
of the international activity of higher education
institution, gained high-quality and dynamic development in recent years. Each year over 2000 students of KazNU take training and
passing of language internships, and also scientific training in foreign
establishments of science and education. The university each year organizes
foreign business journeys for
more than 600 faculty members and the administrative staff of the university
to the international conferences,
meetings by invitations of foreign higher education institutions and
organizations to the CIS countries, Europe, North and South America, the Middle
East and Asia. We can surely say that our university prepare the future of Kazakhstan,
because the vast majority of our graduates enter the elite of Kazakh society
and participate in shaping the direction of development of the country. This is
our most significantresult, we are proud of him and look to the future with
confidence.
The University has an huge educational, scientific, spiritually
educational, innovative and production potential which is aimed to the training
of specialists of the highest qualification, further integration into the world
educational space, development of fundamental and applied research, their
implementation into production [3].
Al-Farabi Kazakh National University - one of the
oldest and largest universities in Kazakhstan,one of the centers of Russian science and knowledge. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University - a university
with 82 years of history and rich practice in the scientific and educational
areas.This day our university is one of the most successful educational
institutions of our Republic. Our university provides
students the possibility to select higher and postgraduate education programs
on a generous choice of specialties.
Present day, graduates of our university are inquired everywhere:
in private companies and big corporations, government agencies, educational institutions and law
enforcement. We confidently guarantee that studying at our university will give our graduates a lot of knowledge, in
theory and practice, and will ensure all successful development of career.
Our major accomplishment is university’s graduates who are
in demand in all spheres of
science. The mission of the university
- training of competitive specialists with modern elite higher education,
focused on solving the problems of intensive development the most important
areas of economy, science and public life of the country.
